Adol(ove)escence
On a day when 'alone' sounds like 'in love'
And beauty contradicts itself
Because everything is
l
We danced.
You whispered in my ear,
"Never say never,
(Say never,)"
And I shivered in the honey-warm sunshine.
On a night when stillness is perfection
And blue seems like the only colour
In the world
(Apart from white)
We loved.
You kissed my cheek,
And lay beside me on the tide-bleached sand.
"I love you," I whispered.
"You will," you reply. "In time.
Once you get over the wonder of this."
I watched sleepily as Aphrodite tiptoed
Across the horizon
And know in my heart
That whatever you think you know
I'm older than you think I am.
I don't know who this pesky boy is, but he keeps sneaking into my poetry. I'm also not sure what I think of this, but am curious to know what you think. :)
