YES FINALLY! Chapter 4 is OUT. I'm SOO sorry for it taking this long. There were alot of problems with this chapter and it was really hard for both Chase and I to work out. Chase wrote this one, so don't be mad if it seems differend than all other times.
But sorry for the wait and I hope it's worth it. I thought so

Chapter 4

The area before them seemed like nothing but fire; it was a sea of fire. The houses, the road, and even what little greenery was on fire. The sky was even black from all the smoke that was rising. It caused flash backs of Flair's own experience when it happened to her village. Such memories caused Flair's knees to give in and she was instantly on the ground. The Shadow Creatures were ravishing everything in sight. People laid in pools of their own and possibly other people's blood.

"W-we have to do something…" Flair spoke just over a whisper, her eyes watering.

"I know," Chase answered, through clenched teeth.

Flair was in shock and Chase was seeing red, he was so mad. Grabbing the red Crystal Sphere, he summoned Bahamut. "Mega Flare!" the Crystal Sphere shot to the sky from Chase's hand and cleared the blackened sky of it's ominous clouds for a second while Bahamut busted himself from his confines. As the clouds took back their place, covering the crystal clear blue sky, Bahamut flew at sonic speeds using his powerful blast to disintegrate a good pocket of those Shadow Creatures.

Grabbing Flair's arm and pulling her to her feet Chase shook her back to reality "You want to help, you need to wake up!"

It was both Chase's words and the pain running up Flair's arm that snapped her back to where she needed to be. She nodded, blinking away the water that had started to collect with unshed tears. Chase released her arm and ran down the hill, drawing his sword which reflected the fire from the building, which made the blade look as though there was a fire coursing through its core.

Flair stood a little longer taking in the sight before her. She could see Bahamut, blasting away groups of the Shadow Creatures. While Chase and his glinting red blade flash, slashing through the necks of the Creatures. Everything looked black and blood red. The ground was covered in red mud from all the blood that had seeped into the earth. The houses becoming ash as she stood and the rest fought. Sparks flew high into the air, like souls of the dead rising to the heavens. Flair couldn't stand this to happen. All the broken families that would come for this, all the children without mothers or fathers. Or even completely demolished families, who would now spend eternity in peace and happiness. She couldn't just stand there and let this happen to this place like it had in her own lost home.

Drawing up her bow and noticing her arrow, a blazing fire flashed through her eyes as the tip of one of her arrows was imbedded with her own fire. Drawing the string back and holding a second to find and aim at her target, she let the arrow fly. It whistled through the air as the fire at the tip, became brighter and stronger with the added oxygen. It lodged its self, inside the neck of the Shadow Creature that was pulling its crooked blade along the throat of a young boy! The boy collapsed to the ground, dead, as the Shadow Creature evaporated back to the Darkness, from whence it came.

Dashing down the hill, Flair drew another arrow, finally joining in the battle with Chase to save what was left of the area.

"Holy!" Chase's words echoed as a blinding flash of holy light filled the eyes of those around, once again the Shadow Creatures disintegrating into nothingness. But no matter how many they took out another wave always seemed to come back to replace those that were destroyed. The friends finally meeting each other on the battle field, fighting back to back.

"They keep coming, like there's no end to them," Flair whizzed getting a little tried.

"I know, but we have to keep trying. There has to be an end somewhere," Chase answered, slashing through a couple of the Shadows in one blow.

"'Fire!'… I'm glad you think so," Flair answered, sending a fire ball to a group of the Creatures in front of her. "I just don't have enough arrows to keep going like this and I'm getting a little tired from using so much of my magic like this."

"Just keep trying Flair, that's all we can do!" Chase said, trying to encourage her.

As the friends fought, they started to get surrounded, but the sound of other clashing blades sounded around them. The occasional, earth shattering explosion of Bahamut's Mega Flare was still being heard. At least large groups of them were being picked off, but they seemed to just keep coming no matter what. Like the more shadows there were, the more of the Shadow Creatures there would be.

Noticing another arrow, Flair forced what she had for magic to the tip of it. She hoped that with how close they were, maybe she'd be able to pick off three if she powered her arrow enough. It was just unfortunate that this was her last arrow and she needed to make it count. Drawing back the string she forced what she could for her magic to the tip of the arrow. Taking in a deep breath, and exhaling as she let the arrow fly. She was lucky enough to actually take out six and not the three like she originally had planned.

"Chase what are we gonna do now?" Flair asked, moving a little closer to her friend. "I have no more arrows and I've only enough energy to make and maintain my FireWall for a couple minutes."

"Use it then," Chase answered, again slashing through more Shadow Creatures. "I sense help is coming, but you have to keep us safe until they get there."

Flair nodded as she stood near Chase, holding her hands together. She was tired and worn out, so she needed to concentrate a little harder on her spell. Finally getting the shield up she forced it outward to give a nice perimeter of safety. Chase could still take out the Shadow Creatures that got near, but they couldn't get any kind of attack in.

"Good, now just hold that for as long as you can," Chase said, smiling at her over her shoulder. Which Flair nodded to in return.

Both their breathing was heavy. A couple arrows flew through the air and made contact with the wall, but nothing had yet to make it through the shield. Though Flair was trying with all her might, but the shield would drop soon and they would be in big trouble again. Chase was catching his breath quickly and would be able to fight them off, but she would have to sleep to be able to get her magic back fully.

Minutes pasted and Chase was ready to fight them again. The visible fire shield flickered like a candle about to go out. Flair could feel something was going to happen, but she couldn't tell from where. Her eyes scanned the area, trying to see where or what was coming. It was at the last second that she spotted it. A big strong archer with some nasty looking arrows was taking aim at them. This wasn't good, she had to do something. The big Shadow Creature would fire the arrow once her shield was down. But who was the target? She wasn't sure.

"Flair! You're shield! Get ready!" Chase yelled. He was too centered on what was going on in front of him and not behind him.

The song of the string rung in the air as the arrow was released and the whistling of the arrow soon followed. Moving quickly, Flair pushed Chase out of the way. If the arrow was aimed for her, the arrow would fly by and hit one of the Creatures. If it was Chase, there was a slim chance she would be hit. Unfortunately it was that slim chance that caused the problem. Yes, Flair managed to get Chase out of the way, but the arrow managed to make a home target of her right side.

Chase placed his hands around her; One on her upper arm and the other around the arrow that was protruding out of the female's side. Flair had managed to stay on her feet and was clinging desperately to Chase's shoulder. The pain when it made contact was non existent, but now that she was able to register what happened, the pain just flooded in. Though there was also something else; her right side was going numb. Soon all Flair could see was black; she was unconscious.

Chase placed his friend on the ground and got ready for the hordes of Shadow Creatures that was going to attack him all at once. It didn't matter now, if help was on the way or not for from the moment he laid Flair down, a fury began to broil inside of him and in response, a soft golden glow found its way from him. Chase stared down the oncoming shadows, "You've just made a fatal mistake...Bahamut!" He yelled as the gargantuan dragon landed beside notice of the situation, Bahamut asked, "Chase, what happened?"

"She took an arrow for me, a poisoned one it seems...and these creatures...they'll pay!" Chase exclaimed in response.

Bahamut carefully lifted the young female onto his back as Chase jumped on, and with a mighty flap of his wings, the Dragon King swiftly rose into the air. The same golden glow surrounded the dragon king in response to the glow from his longtime friend. "In that case...enjoy the fireworks."

Golden energy started to seep and glow around the large dragon's snout and around Chase's out stretched hands forming a large, concentrated orb of what seemed to be holy energy. "HIKARU FLARE!" was the shout that came from both dragon and young knight and in response, the energy blasted into the center of the town before detonating into a shockwave of pure holy energy, becoming bright as the sun. Screams of agony could be heard as shadow after shadow seemed to melt away into soot before that too faded.

Slowly, the dragon landed back on ground, seeing what appears to be the help that was needed earlier. Gathering Flair into his arms, Chase jumped off the dragon landing near a young man, yet landing quite gently. The man was standing on a hole in a building that was falling over and had yet to meet the singeing fate of the rest of the buildings.

Another young man spilled by the first, took one glance at the dragon and then to the injured Flair bidding them to follow.
"Don't worry, you can trust us." He said, grabbing Chase's arm and pulled him through the hole in the wall. The sound of rushing feet sounded behind them as the rest of the so called rescue party followed behind them.

The group led Chase through a couple of back allies, while the ones behind stood at guard, you never know when more shadow may decide to come. The Young man from before looked right at Chase before asking, "Allow my subordinate here to take your girlfriend off your hands for a moment. He'll take her to the medical ward, but don't worry; your girlfriend will be fine."

Hesitating slightly, Chase lowers his eyes to the injured Flair in his arms before nodding and gently handing her over to the young man beside the apparent leader. The young man, now quickly dashed off with Flair as Chase walked over to this leader.

Taking notice of Chase, the young leader spoke up politely. "Name's Julian, what's yours?"

"Chase," Chase answered, walking beside Julian. "That girl, your friend just took away is my friend – not girl friend – Flair"

"Whatever you say mate," Julian answered. "There's a poison going through her blood stream. But she's lucky, we came along, we've an antidote for it."

"Yea, I could tell it was poisoned from the moment she was hit...so where are we anyway?" Chase asked

"This town is Sendentoria," Julian answered over his shoulder

"What's the name of this realm?"

"Chronos," Julian answered in a way that caused that conversation to end.

It took only a couple minutes before the group was safe underground. There wasn't much light going through a couple tunnels but in main used rooms there were a couple torches. They passed one room that was covered with a white curtain and another with a black. Julian noticed Chase's curious look towards the curtains and turned around to explain it to him.

"The white curtain is where your friend would be, getting the poison removed."

"So the other would be where you'd put the ones that don't make it then?" Chase asked, filling in the blank

"That's correct," Julian answered, turning back around. "But follow me, we've much to talk about and here isn't the place for it."

Chase continued to follow Julian, all the way through some very twisty tunnels. Before long, the group stopped in front of a door. Two of the men stood with their hands behind their backs and their feet set shoulder width apart on either side of the door. Julian walked over to the door, and pushed it forward to open into a brightly lit room.

"Please, come inside, and let's talk." He said motioning for Chase to come inside, before he, himself walked inside.

Chase followed a couple seconds later, making sure that the other two standing outside wouldn't do anything. When Chase walked into the room, he noticed the torches that lined wall. A desk that set across from the door, a couch to the left of him and a number of chairs to the right. There was a small stack of papers on the desk that Julian was quickly flipping through. There wasn't anything on the walls, but it seemed that the room was built with brick to keep it from crumbling on top of who ever used this room.

"Please, have a sat," Julian said, smiling a little waving to a chair that was already set before the desk. Chase didn't say a word as he sat down in front of the desk, watching Julian with calculating eyes.

Julian soon sat down as well, and looked to Chase. There was a long patch of silence that seemed to get so thick you could slice right through it with a hot butter knife. It would be a couple more minutes before Chase finally decided to speak up.

"So, Julian," Chase started, taking in a deep breath before pursuing forward. "When did the Shadow Creatures appear?"

"Two weeks ago exactly today," was Julian's blunt answer "and what about you? You seem to have just appeared out of no where."

"My friend and I came by portal," Chase answered. It seemed to be turning into a game of answer a question, get to ask a question. "What can you tell me about what happened during the two weeks they've been here?"

"I can tell you almost anything," Julian answered, starting to rub his temples. "They came in the dead of night. If it hadn't been for the animals going stock crazy, we never would have realized something was wrong. They came in fast and strong. Whoever was in their way, was on the ground in a matter of seconds; minutes for a building. They move like a tribe of ants. Working together as a team to take down their prey.

"The few men that were capable of fighting, fought well, and few were hurt since these creatures seemed to be easily brought down. But their sheer numbers made things hard; as you and your friend experienced first hand."

Julian paused a second, closing his eyes and sighing a little. The scene played in Julian's mind quite vividly. All the men, women and children, taken down without any show of mercy; even the animals were shown the same treatment as their masters. Everything was equal to them; something that needed to be exterminated and taken out. As Julian played these images in his head, he relayed them to the young man that sat across from him.

Hearing such things about the children made Chase feel the need to do something about it. Yes, they were here to get rid of those Shadow Creatures, but now there was another purpose behind it. He wanted to help this place, he wanted to help the people rebuild. Maybe it was just the knightly justice inside him, but he felt that Flair would feel the same anyway.

"We'll stay and destroy these creatures til not a one is left," Chase said, through gritted teeth.

"Good," Julian answered opening his eyes and looking at Chase. "Because I was going to tell you, because we helped you; you'll help us."

"I fight for my own reasons, not because you helped us," Chase answered, trying to keep his ever growing anger and rage beneath the surface.

Julian just nodded. He didn't care if he was just there to cause a massacre; just so long as they were in the aid of his people. This Chase fellow could go totally berserk on these Shadow Creatures if it meant they'd be ridden of those creatures. He saw what happened with the knight and the massive dragon. Without a word, Chase stood and left the room. Julian didn't stop him. It was true that Julian was older, it was physically obvious, but it was the fact that Chase could use that blade of his. While Julian wasn't as skilled in the primal weapons of yore.

The city of Sendentoria was very high tech compared to many of the other places they had heard of, before the attack. They had skyscrapers that would challenge even the oldest and tallest of the forest trees. They had little use for electricity; the only time it was really needed was to power the city on a cloudy day when not enough solar power was made to power the grand city. The people were happy, and very prosperous. There was little pollution for the vehicles ran on the air around them.

But it came all crashing down on them one night. The Shadow Creatures, being of no matter that their security scanners knew nothing about. The Creatures were like the shadows themselves, and for that reason they weren't detected. A once proud and grand city, reduced to rubble in a matter of one night. Though what baffled most of the people of Sendentoria was the sheer number of them. No army could possibly have that many in it and actually be as healthy as they were; or seemed to be.

It mattered little now, the city was in ruin and it was take years to be able to get back to that again. But if the people of Sendentoria were willing enough it would be done. The wills of the people were very strong and they would always try their hardest to fulfill any kind of dream they had. Even if it went, from being a Market Owner, to a Corporate Business Owner.

Meanwhile, as Julian and Chase were talking, Flair had woken up, laying flat on her back starting at a dirt ceiling. The first thought that went through her head that she was dead. But then, she wouldn't be awake aware of things – then she was buried alive! But, then she wouldn't be able to breathe and she would be dead. She tried to move a little and found her leg and her fingers to her elbow were numb. She moved her head and looked around a little. There was someone near some white curtain. Groaning a little, Flair managed to form a couple words "Where am I?"

The person by the curtain looked over and smiled a little at her. She could tell it was a male at least. Just by the way the body was built. It was just that he had hair that reached to his shoulders.

"Easy now," He said softly. "Don't move too much or you'll hurt yourself."

Flair stilled and looked up at him. His face was darkened from the lack of light in the room. "What happened, where am I? And where's Chase?"

"You got hit with an arrow remember?" He asked, and she nodded "There was poison in it and you blacked out. But don't worry, there's an antidote running through your system as we speak. As for where you are, you're underground safe from the Shadow Creatures. And this Chase… he's that guy you were with right?"

Flair nodded again, blinking a little. "Where is he?"

"He's not to far away," The male answered. "He's-"

"I'm right here; miss me?" Chase said cutting guy off.

"Chase, you're alright!" Flair exclaimed trying to stand up. Since her leg was still very numb, she ended up falling over.

Moving quickly Chase managed to catch her shoulders laughing pretty hard. "Haha! It's like you've got noodles for legs!"

"Oh, be quiet!" Flair barked back, with a smile still on her face. "I was worried about you. Alright you alright?

"Yeah, I'm fine," Chase answered, setting her back on the stretcher "What about you?"

"I've noodles for legs and half an arm…," Flair answered sarcastically "You tell me."

Chase laughed a little more, which caused Flair to giggle a bit. At least their spirits weren't that dampened. Chase turned to the guy in the room and asked nicely if he would give them a minute alone and he complied. There was a slight pause before Chase got into the explanation about what had happened to the city before they came. The same type of anger started to well up inside Flair. It was obvious what had to be done, but it would also be a little while before Flair could join in this fight.

"Well until you can move properly, Me and Bahamut will hold the fort here." Chase said while pointing his thumb to his chest and smirking a bit.
"Well, hopefully I won't be out of action too long, you'll need help, no matter how strong you guys are. You lucked out with that attack earlier I think." Flair responded with a still seriousness in her voice.
"You're tellin' me. It just sorta happened! Though, we will look into this more. For now, get some rest, ok." He said slowly, his eyes glinting with light. "But I guess I can go look around for a hand to help out a bit. I'll head into town; see what I can stir up. Might find someone skilled-"

"And that's where I come in." a voice rang out from the shadows as it interrupted Chase.

A few hours earlier in another realm...

A fiery rain of blades crashed into the hard, rocky surface, a surface where a young man once stood, though shifted to a spot beside it. The young man had a smug smile on his face as he stared at the much larger opponent. A massive humanoid figure seemed to be made of living rock and fire which wielded six different blade, like weapons. The creature, enraged at the fact he missed such a small opponent rushed blindly at the young figure again, swinging his blades swiftly, but not swiftly enough. Dashing right beside the monster, the young man swiftly drew a katana seemingly radiating in pure dark energy, and coming to a halt behind the best, he dropped to one knee with his blade extended. Slowly the wind picked up, lifting his dark Trench coat to the side and ruffling his onyx colored hair. He blinked once and only once before the creature's fire died and fell , Cheering and shouting erupted from all around the young man before a loud voice erupted over all the shouting, "And there you have it folks! The undefeated Jin Riketz-Briefs has dropped the Legendary Golem in this amazing fight! Let's hear it for him!"

The screaming and cheering got much louder as laughter filled Jin's eyes; eyes of the darkest shade with beautiful silvery pupils. He spoke up," Ladies...That one was for you." turning to a group of women and young girls in one section of the high gladiator stands. The on looking women blushed quite a bit as others fainted as Jin gave his trademark grin.

"So strong...and such a lady's man as well!" The announcer exclaimed. "Next up, we have Behemoth, the powerful half Turinian pitted against th-Glurkkk!" The announcer voiced quickly shifted to a gurgling sound as screams began to fill the stands...not screams of excitement, but of terror.

Shifting his eyes upward, Jin couldn't help but take a double take at the scene before him. A claw that seemed to be a shadow had emerged from the announcer's chest as he gurgled on black blood; a creature made up of the shadows itself was behind that man and attached to the claw. The whole stands soon began to scream out as more of those shadows erupted from all around, slashing through the crowds, through men and women, children and elderly. It made no difference. Jin watched in horror as slowly, scenes from his past flooded his memory before his eyes set in a blazing fury. "These Creatures! They are the same as him!" He exclaimed as he made a few hand symbols before slowly, sinking into his own shadow, only to reappear behind a large shadow creature. Swiftly hefting his katana, he severed the body from the head of the shadow forcing it to fade away. Yanking a small Blue crystal from inside his coat, he shouted into the sky, "Nega Flare!" In the very instant those words left his mouth, summoning runes appeared beneath him, and into the sky, a thin beam of navy energy shot from the crystal, separating the clouds in the process. The winds themselves picked up as an inhumanly roar filled the area, instantly turning all attention to the sky, or to be more precise, to the gargantuan figure slowly soaring from the sky. The figure revealed itself to be a creature of legend, a Dragon and not just any dragon, but a silver one. The Dragon swooped down, slinging its claws and tail around, battered and ripping shadows to shreds in the process. Turning itself around, it found its summoner and its best friend. "Jin, you let the party start without me?" "Lazy ass dragon, Taimut, if you chose to stay AWAKE you wouldn't have missed the fireworks." Jin spoke back slightly irritated with his large friend "Anyway, we need to draw them away, think you can do it?"

"Lazy ass Drakian, why can't you do it? And I need the beauty sleep to keep my scales so shiny." The dragon retorted with humor in his eyes, "But I have an idea." and with a mighty flap of his wings, Taimut flew off as Jin jumped onto his back, though aggravated with his dragon friend.

"They have no remorse, and attack younglings, though now that they see the bigger threat, they flock to us." Jin spoke with a hidden fury to his words as the mighty dragon's eyes began to adopt that same furious look.
"Even the younglings...Jin, We destroy them-" The dragons head quickly shifted to the sky as it felt a powerful presence, very much like its own. "Brother..." Jin's head darted in the same direction as Taimut's.
"They're alive?!" Jin exclaimed, before turning his head at the mob of shadows below them. "Taimut, we deal with these things before we investigate." A silvery black energy wrapped around them as he said this and began to gather at the dragon's mouth. The energy heavily condensed itself into a small sphere of primal darkness power. "Gamma Flare!" Both Dragon and Drakian exclaimed as from the sphere, erupted a wide spread pulse beam of the same energy, darkness energy which absorbed the Shadow Creatures and slowly faded away. Looking down at the few surving people, Jin nodded to them as Taimut began to fly in the sky towards the presence they felt, Jin's coat seen fluttering around wildly behind him.

Dragon and warrior both vanished into a spot in the sky and almost instantly, felt the shockwave of a bright and powerful light technique flood their senses. "Jin, that's Bahamut's power. It may have been years, but I know my brother's power!" Taimut shouted out as he shielded them from the wave with his wings.

"Yeah, I know that Taimut, I can feel Chase's in it too! We've found them" Jin exclaimed back with shut eyes as slowly, the light faded out. "We have to hurry, I'll follow his signature."

"Just don't forget what you're looking for if you pass some any females. I know how your mind gets." Taimut spoke in return.

"What, I'd never do such a thing...if it's only one" Jin grinned a bit before muffling a curse as a large tail thwacked his head. "Damn it lazy ass dragon, I was only joking." Jin yelled while rubbing his head and pulling out a navy crystal again, as it began to glow in his touch, Taimut slowly faded into blue energy and pyreflies which was absorbed into the crystal. Pocketing the Crystal, Jin made a few hand seals and slowly sank into his shadow yet again, before instantly reappearing in a shaded corner which seemed to be in a medical ward. In front his very eyes, he saw what seemed to be an injured girl, right around his age, staring seriously at someone, her brown hair lightly framing her face as she spoke to a young man with a light brown blonde colored hair. Noticing the gold in his eyes, he fought the urge to tackle his lost brother until he began to overhear the story of this new realm and once again, that familiar fury ran through his eyes.

"Well until you can move properly, Me and Bahamut will hold the fort here." The young man said while doing something with his hands. "Well, hopefully I won't be out of action too long, you'll need help, no matter how strong you guys are. You lucked out with that attack earlier I think." The young woman responded with a still seriousness in her voice.

"And that's where I come in." Jin slowly spoke out with humor in his eyes and a grin on his face as he interrupted his long lost brother and his friend...
