A/N: Just something random that came to me during work. -sigh- Nevermind.

This was it. She had planned this surprise for a long while now. She had carefully wrapped his gift with wrapping paper and specially drew his Christmas card. She waited anxiously as faces popped through the doorway, butterflies fluttering around in her stomach.

"Nervous?" a voice asked behind her. She nodded at her long time buddy/'sister' Lexi. Lexi smiled and playfully punched heron the arm. "Lighten up. You look as pale as snow."

She nodded, not comprehending what her friend had said, because he walked though the door. It was now or never. Slowly, she stood, grabbing the present with her. She made her way over to him, feeling a few eyes on her as she did so.

"Zane," she said once she reached him. He looked up, surprise flashing in his eyes. She handed him his gift, smiled, and said, "Merry Christmas."

She had every intention of 'fleeing the scene' to let him unwrap his gift, but something stopped her. She began twisting her class ring nervously around her finger as he opened it. He looked, emotionlessly, at the poster he had received as a gift from her. His reaction was nothing she expected. He looked up at her and sneered.

"I'm sure this will be an excellent chew toy for Jasper."

Shock coursed through her veins. This wasn't supposed to happen! "But…I thought-"

"That's right. You though, and you thought wrong."

Tears began pouring down her cheeks. She fled the room, his mocking laugh ringing in her ears.
