The Curse

Once there stood of stone

A castle of wondrous appeal

Trapped and all alone

Was a princess who'd made a deal.

Her mother had warned her not to

But her cries fell on deaf ears

For she believed it was all she could do

To finally vanquish her fears.

A witch had her one true love

A bargain, she said, was the only way

To give up her freedom of a dove

And become like a bird locked away.

Caged in the stone tower of high

For all eternity to go by like a snail

Her fate was sealed and decades went by

The curse tormenting without fail.

The castle finally crumpled to the ground

The princess along with it

Now all that's left is a mound

The past not remembered a bit.
