A Sonnet from the Heart

If I were a lone flower in a grassy field
And you were the sun that lighted the sky
Then I'd be a single sunflower
Always gazing and following you

If there was such a thing as fate
Then we're bound by the red ribbon
Always connected wherever we are
It would tighten and bring us closer

If I were the wind, then I'd be behind you
To push you forward when you need it
To whisper sweet nothings into your ear
Telling you all of the secrets that I hold

If I were the greatest enigma to ever exist
That had always rejected all attempts
Then you'd be the first to ever decipher it
The first to make me look so simple

If I were to have a curse befall me
Then you'd be my voodoo doll
All pain that is inflicted upon you
Will appear and become my real pain

If we were both travellers in this world
I'd be right nearby you no matter what
If I'm ahead, I'll wait, if behind, I'll catch up
In the end, I'd be beside you
