Mecca

"Are we there yet?"

"No."

"Are we there yet?

"No!"

"Are we th-"

"NO!"

My sisters and I, Sallie, Mary, and Kathrine, were on a Texan pilgrimage to the Alamo. We were in an old 1984 Buick, which stopped at random places on the freeway.

"Sallie, maybe we should stop and call daddy to pick us up." Kathrine, the youngest, moaned to our driver when the car stopped again.

Many men stopped to help us, we were glad, four girly girls who knew nothing about cars. Soon we were an hour from San Antonio, which was when the rain started.

"Aww, a rainbow!" Kathrine sighed. But then a flash of lightening broke the beautiful scene.

"I think that is prettier." Mary smirked. Then the rain poured down, hard. Then the skies turned black, and the roads slippery. Sallie drove on; after all, it was a long highway. But, sadly, there was a traffic light up ahead.

We swerved, trying not to run into the cars ahead of us, instead we ran into one of the signs nearby.

"I think the car is broke." Kathrine stated.

"You think the car is broke!" I yelled, incredulously.

"The hood has been torn in bloody half!" Mary bellowed.

"Now girls, don't yell; at least no one was hurt. We'll just walk to the convenience store up ahead." Sallie said, pointing.

"Through the bleeding rain?!" Mary yelled.

"Yes." Then Sallie and I opened our doors, only we found a river of water gushing in the ditch under our car.

So, she decided to start the car. It sounded as if an atomic bomb was detonated, but the car did take us to the store before it died. We called a tow truck, a taxi, and our Dad.

When the taxi came, it was still raining. We went to where Sallie had planned for us to stay and guess what? It was a campground.

"I am going to kill you!" I whispered in my deadliest voice.

But we put up the tents in the freezing rain. Luckily, the taxi driver helped us, even when some of the rain turned into small hail.

"Good Morning!" Sallie called when light poured into the damp, cramped tent.

"What's bloody good about it?" Mary groaned, not happy after a sleepless night.

"We get to see the Alamo today!" Sallie gushed, joyfully.

"Yay." We said sarcastically.

We arrived at the Laundromat, dried our clothes, and then we enjoyed the San Antonio Public Transportation on our way to the Alamo. When we finally got there I was hot and sweaty, but what awaited me was worth it all.

"Wow!" Kathrine sighed, gazing up at the majestic beauty.

"Does it have Air Conditioning inside?" Mary whined.

I rolled my eyes, "It is the Alamo; it has everything and anything inside."

We stood in line in front of the building. When we entered it, we knew we had finally seen what we had come for, to see our Mecca, the Alamo.
