I suddenly got inspiration for this poem reading another story that had nothing to do with this topic. But I like it anyway.

Sincerely
I didn't believe that you could hurt me,
That my life was so little to you.
I thought the words 'I love you' meant something different.
From the start, things were great.
I must admit, you were a wonderful lover.
You bought me clothes,
Cooked for me,
Listened to me,
You were my other half.
But I came got home too late one night.
I was only working,
But in your eyes I wasn't.
I told you not to wait up late,
But to your ears, I was cheating.
Again,
You picked up your favorite bat,
And swung it at me.
But you missed.
I picked up the butcher knife.
You swung again,
You were aiming for my head this time,
But I rebelled.
That's why I'm on the kitchen floor,
Holding your dead body.
I'm so sorry baby,
But when the police ask what happened,
It's only going to be self defense.
I will weep at your funeral,
Oh, yes I will cry,
But I will always remember how you tried to take my life.
Too bad showing the real you,
Earned you the death sentence, honey.
Sincerely,
Your Wife
