Here's the beginning to another story I'm writing. Read, comment, do whatever. I have a few other stories up if you'd like to read those too. Hopefully everyone likes this one...We shall see! I will update it within the next few days, hopefully. Just need to write a bit more before I submit another chapter.

Sixteen eyes look over towards the phone at its first ring. The television flashes pictures of nearly naked women running around, screaming, as some maniac-killer chases after them. Debra, the sixteen-year-old that was hosting the party got up off her bed and sulked over to the phone. "Guys, turn the T.V. down!" She yelled over to her fellow party-mates. One of them grabbed the remote and hit the mute button. A click was heard as the telephone was taken off of the docking station, and answered, "Hello?" Debra asked in her soft, high-pitched voice.

"Hello," The deep, masculine voice replied to her, "Who's this?"

Debra looked over to the other girls on her bed and grinned, putting her hand up to cover the microphone of the telephone, "Some random guy just called, and wants to know who this is," She said giggling to herself.

Earlier they had been prank calling people, forgetting to do 'star sixty-seven'. Debra guessed that this was one of the people they had called, "Why do you want to know?" She asked, curling the wire of the phone around her finger, the rest of the girls listening in on the conversation.

"So I know who I'm looking at."

The words made Debra's skin crawl for a second, until she looked around and noticed that all of the shades in her room were closed. But she decided to play along with him anyway, some amusement for the rather dull night, "How…How can you see me?" She asked in a mock fright tone of voice, then covered the receiver of the phone again to speak with her friends. "This guy is so Scream."

"Because I'm looking at you through the window."

Debra couldn't help but laugh this time, "Nice try. But I have my blinds closed, you couldn't possibly be looking in through my windows. Next time you try to prank someone, make sure you can do it correctly." The phone was clicked off and put back on the docking station, and Debra jumped back onto her bed with the other seven girls.

The girls had been listening intently to what Debra was talking on the phone about, even though the conversation had only lasted a few seconds. "What did that guy want?" One of the girls asked Debra as the movie was un-muted.

"He just wanted to know who I was, and told me that he could see me. So I played along with him until he said he could see me through the window." Debra began laughing again, ending in a snort. The girls had all gathered at her house that night to celebrate her sixteenth birthday. The highlight of the night, her parents weren't home. "Why don't we go get something to snack on?" Debra asked getting off of her bed, the recent phone call giving her slight shivers, even though she knew it was only a bad prank.

The rest of the girls got off the bed as well and followed Debra out of her bedroom. As Debra exited her room she paused for a moment, thinking that she had closed the door. But it was open. The group walked out of the room and immediately took a right, going down the stairs. The third floor, where all of the bedrooms was, had only a tiny hall connecting them to the stairs. Debra's parent's room was right across the hall from hers. Funny thing, Debra could have sworn she had closed her parents door too. She thought that her parent's room was creepy, and whenever they weren't around she kept the door closed.

Parting from the group of girls she walked back up the stairs to close her parent's door. Grabbing the doorknob she began to close it, noticing how dark it was inside the room. And that the window on the far side of the room was not covered. Now that she though about it, that window looked directly down the hallway and into her room when the doors weren't closed. Growing increasingly frightened she left the door halfway closed and ran down the stairs to be with her friends. Safety in numbers.

One of Debra's friends had noticed her fear and pulled her aside to talk, "Everything alright?" Debra was asked.

Debra paused before answering her friend, "No…I don't think so. You know that guy who called just a bit ago? He said he was watching me through a window. Well the window in my parent's room wasn't covered, so what if he was looking through that one?" Debra asked sounding afraid, obviously shaken by the lack of color in her face.

"Debra, it was a prank call. No need to get all worried about it. We were doing the same thing just a few hours ago, remember?" Her friend asked trying to cheer her up.

Another friend spotted this and stalked to the freezer, grabbing a carton out of it and holding it up as if she were victorious. "Ice cream." Was all that was said, the group of girls squealed and handed out spoons. A few minutes later the carton had been emptied and Debra's nerves had been calmed.

With the remnants of the ice cream container finished up the gang moved to the living room, all sitting down on the floor and couches. "So what should we do now?" One of the girls asked, plopping down onto the leather sofa.

Debra, who was standing up at the moment, moved over to the wall and switched off the lights. The ice cream had calmed her nerves and she was ready to get back to her party. "I know what we can do." Her voice soft as a whisper, giving it a spooky sound. The rest of the girls looked up at her with wide eyes as she moved to the center of the room, awaiting to hear what she had in mind. "We can play Ouija."

Some of the girls let out sounds of interest, while one stood up immediately, "Come on guys, we don't want to do this. Its dangerous and it deals with bad forces." Kelsi said sitting back down on the couch, the golden cross strung around her neck glinting softly in the dim light.

"Oh come on, you're such a party pooper," Debra replied to her friend, who crossed her arms and pouted.

"Fine, go ahead, I'll just watch."

Within a few minutes the coffee table had been moved and all but one of the girls were sitting on the floor in a circle, around a wooden board. Carved into the wooden board was the alphabet, numbers zero through nine, and the words 'hello', 'goodbye', 'no', and 'yes'. The board was coated in a light layer of dust, having to be wiped down before being used. The board was decorated with the sun, the crescent moon, and some stars.

Debra placed the planchette in the middle of the board and looked around, "Alright, everyone place two fingers on the planchette, so we can begin."

Candles had been placed around the circle of friends, excluding the one still sitting on the couch. There were five candles, all equal distances from each other, to create a pentagon. They had previously decided that Jen would lead them through the game. Seeing as she knew more about this kind of stuff. Her hobby was researching the occult, witchcraft, spiritualism, the like. So they decided it would be best if she led them through it.

Slowly, one by one, the girls started placing their fingers on the planchette, starting with Debra. Her brown eyes looked down at the semi-glowing triangular piece of wood before her. Leaning forward her brown hair fell into her eyes, which she quickly brushed away, then placed two of her fingers on the planchette and waited for the others. Following her was Ashley, who's black hair was held up behind her head in a tight bun, four inch bangs on either side of her face, hung forward, framing it. Piercing blue eyes looked down at the planchette as she too placed her fingers on it. Katy followed suit, quickly putting her blonde hair in a ponytail and placing her fingers down as well. Following Katy was, Jane, Alex, Kati, and finally coming to Jen who did not place her fingers on the planchette.

Jen held up her hands, reaching out slightly to the girls sitting next to her. "Alright, lets all join hands and I'll lead us in a prayer." As she instructed, all of the girls took their fingers off the planchette and grabbed hands. Some giggled at how silly this may have seemed, but to Jen this was a very serious matter. "From here on out you must all be serious. Now, everyone close their eyes. I will begin to say a prayer, then I will prompt you and you will repeat after me. Understand?"

The giggles ceased and slowly everyone closed their eyes, and made some sort of gesture to Jen, letting her know that they understood. The air was still as everyone began to relax and Jen began to say her prayer. "Come ye, of the Southern Winds, place of storms and deepest night. Guard this circle set outside of Time." She paused, looking up to the ceiling with her unseeing eyes. "Come ye, of the East Winds, place of first Sun and rise of Moon. Guard this circle set outside of Time." Her voice getting slightly louder as she continued to speak. "Come ye, of the Northern Winds, place of the highest Sun. Guard this circle set outside of Time." Kelsi, who was sitting on the couch nearby, watching with mild amusement, thinking to herself of how they were all committing an act of great sin, and how they would all be going to hell because of this. Unless they repented of course. "Come ye, of the West Winds, place of the setting sun. Guard this circle set outside of Time. I open the four gates, and hence forth protect this circle from any negative energy wishing to come inside of it. We will only let in good spirits with which to communicate. So mote it be."

Jen opened her eyes and glanced upon the circle of friends, she could see a faint orb of light encasing the group of friends. "Now everyone say, 'so mote it be.'" The phrase was then repeated by the rest of her friends softly. Jen then instructed them to open their eyes. "Alright, let us begin. But first…I open up this circle to all good natured spirits who wish to communicate." The girls felt a soft pulse inside their now sacred circle as it was opened up to the spirit world.

They replaced their fingers back on the planchette and began. "Are there any spirits that wish to communicate with us?" She called out to all of the invisible forces around them. The planchette darted over to the word 'yes' on the board, immediately. The girls erupted into screams which died down into giggles, most had taken their hands off of the pointer.

"Guys, we need to concentrate." Debra said to the group, as they became quiet again and replaced their fingers. "Alright, Jen, please continue."

Jen gave a nod to Debra and looked down at the board. She knew that whatever spirit wanted to contact them was a strong one, how else could it have moved the planchette so easily? "How many spirits are there in our circle?" Jen asked in a calm voice, though she had to admit, she was worried. Too many spirits could be a bad thing.

This time the planchette began to slowly move to the numbers. Getting close to the number one, but before it did it jolted towards the other end of the number line. Then struggled back towards the one. As if two people were fighting over which way it went. Then it stopped. All eyes were on the board, awaiting the answer. Suddenly the planchette shot towards the numbers and stopped abruptly, on three. "So I guess we have three spirits in here." Jen said looking up at her friends.

Everyone met her eyes smiling at how well this was working, even if it was someone that was doing it. It was still fun. "We permit one of you to talk, so decide and then tell us what your name is." The planchette stayed still for a minute or so, then began to spell out the name. "R." Jen stated as the pointer moved over to the 'R' and stopped briefly. "O." She said again, then the planchette moved again and landed on the next letter, "B." The pointer did not move anymore after this, so one could assume that the spirits name was Rob.

Just then the telephone rang. "Oh, hold on I gotta get this." Debra said standing up and walking over to the phone.

The circle of friends continued without her, "How old are you?" Debra could hear Jen asking.

Debra reached down and grabbed the phone, bringing it up to her ear. "Hello?"

"Hello, Debra." The voice said. It was the same, sadistic voice from earlier that night, and instantly sent chills up Debra's spine.

"What do you want from me?" She asked rather loud, loud enough to draw the attention of everyone else in the room. The game of Ouija abruptly stopped, and all eyes were on Debra.

"I can see you, Debra."

"No!" Debra yelled into the receiver and hung up the phone. Quickly she ran around the room closing all of the curtains so that no one could see in. Once that was done she faced her friends. "It was that guy again. He called back."

The Ouija board had been ditched, and everyone was sitting on one of the two couches. They had decided to have a group meeting, and talk about this problem. "This is ridiculous. We shouldn't be worrying about this, its probably just some guy prank calling. I really don't see why you're so scared, Debra." Katy said looking over to Debra who was on the bigger of the two couches, a strand of golden colored hair wrapped around her finger.

"I agree with Katy, this is stupid," Jane said looking to her friends on the sofas.

Debra looked at Katy and at Jane, "I wouldn't be like this if I didn't think this guy was a prank caller," Debra said, her eyes growing teary. "I really think there's something wrong here."

"Well, I don't care. This is stupid and I don't want to have to deal with it anymore," Jane said standing up from her position on the couch. "I'm going home."

All straying eyes darted over to Jane, "No, you can't leave," Debra pleaded, her eyes getting a frantic look.

"I came here to have a party, and this is not what you should be doing at a party. So I'm going to go. I'll see you all tomorrow when I come to pick up my stuff." Jane was on track, so she could run very fast. That was her chosen mode of transportation most of the time as well. She didn't like cars very much, and thought that running was both effective and a good workout.

The group of girls followed Jane down the stairs to the garage door, pleading with her to not leave. Their efforts were in vain, for Jane slipped on her sneakers and opened the door to the darkness. "Good night girls. I'll see you tomorrow morning." She said walking out of the house, quickly disappearing past the line of light and into the dark.

"There's really not much we can do to stop her, you know?" Kelsi said as Debra closed the door and latched it, making sure no one would be able to get in.

"I guess you're right, lets just go back upstairs and try to have a fun night. Jane's just a party pooper." Alex piped in, her pale skin almost glowing in the dim light.

The group of girls trotted back upstairs, into the safety of the living room light. They all huddled back onto the two couches, beginning to chat again. After a few minutes of talking, they decided to head back up to Debra's room and continue watching whatever TV was showing. The horror movie had ended and it seems some infomercial was on, so they flipped through the channels trying to find something suitable.
