I will survive

Katrina has come

And washed away my home

We thought we were safe

In our barricaded house

But we were wrong

When she hit she killed my brother

A piece of metal embedded in his heart

It came thought the window

That Katrina shattered

My father said 'the worst is over'

As we stared at the mess of our house

But he was wrong

The water came next

We escaped though the roof

Dad didn't make it

He was too slow, wanted to take too much

My mother said 'nothing worse can happen'

As we stood on the roof

But she was wrong

She caught hypothermia

And died that night

I'm all alone

But I will not give up

I am strong and brave

I will survive
