Abandonment

The gilded cage that surrounds,

empty halls and castle grounds,

Has endured the worst of time,

thickly crusted by it's grime.

Life is gone, there are no sounds,

bodies lie beneath the mounds.

Cloudy skies, a cold, damp breeze,

ravens caw from nearby trees.

An old path, tangled with weeds,

a goldfish pond filled with reeds.

Withered roses by the stair

remind one of their despair.

Well worn steps, a fallen door,

the travesty is no more.
