Chapter 1

She touched her newly cut short black hair. Oh, how she missed her long hair. She looked at her pale soft skin. Her skin was so white that you would think she stayed inside all summer. She grabbed her red lipstick and applied it on her full lips. She looked at her black eyes, which showed no emotion. She hated the person she has become. What ever happened to the little happy girl she once knew.

Her mother called out her name, with one last look in the mirror she got up. It was time to face them, the people who held no part of her heart. She grabbed her black jean jacket and went down stairs. She could hear her mother talking to her sister. Her sister was not much younger then her. As she walked down the hall, she looked at the mirrors that she past by. Who was that girl, who was the girl who ate up her life, who took over?

She sat down on the table, not looking at her sister or mother. Her father must have left or maybe he hadn't come home yet. She grabbed the fork and took a big piece of pancake up to her lips, before her mother spoke…

"Ella would you take Rachel to school"

She looked up to see her mother's face, her blond hair was tied up in a high bun and her green eyes stared at her sadly. Her mother hated the fact that she cut her hair. Her mother hated the fact that she changed, the fact that she never seemed happy, that her once happy daughter died. Who was there to blame, her mother, her father, her once best friend, many of her boyfriends, or her self.

She didn't smile, she didn't blink she nodded her head and went back to her food. It was morning likes theses that she hated. She had gotten up and grabbed her bag. She called out for her sister and started her car. She looked at the side mirror and sighed...

"You know you were prettier with long hair" her sister Rachel said

She looked at her sister, Rach, was what she use to call her, before her life was taken away. Her sister had blond long hair, she got that from her mother, and she also got her green eyes. She for once got her fathers traits. Her sisters thins lips moved, but she heard nothing, she was to busy thinking of how her story will start. How she is the one thinking of every thing that is written in this page. She wants a story that's joyful, but how can that happen if there is no joy in her life.

She dropped off her sister with no words said; she drove to her school waiting for this day to end. She walked in to the place she new as hell. She looked at familiar faces, but none remembered her. Maybe it's the hair, she thought as she walked to her first class. She sat down by the corner table, took out her notebook, and started to draw.

She wanted her life, her story, to be looked upon as a comic book. She loved to draw, that was one of her many gifts, and probably one of the things she enjoyed in life. She drew until she heard some one next to her tap on the desk for her attention. She looked up and saw her ex lover.

He was her first love, she use to think that she still loved him, but she willed her self to let go. She dated guys after him, but none held a part of her heart like him. She looked at his brown eyes, and then she looked at his brown hair spiked up as a Mohawk, probably is new style, just like she wanted to be different.

"Like the new hair, Ella"

The corner of his mouth moved up and formed a smiled. She looked at him and smiled, the first smiled she made since her junior year ended. She looked at him and notices that he was waiting for her to say something.

"Thanks"

She whispered and turned away, he taped on her shoulder and his smiled seemed to disappear. She looked at him and all of the memories she tried to bury seemed to come back to her.

"How was your summer?"

She heard her self ask. His smiled reappeared, and he began to speak...

"It was alright, I chilled with my friends, went to the beach, normal things, you know what I mean" he said looking at her…

Of Crouse she didn't know what he meant, what did he mean by chilling with friends? Did he just sit and talk with them, go to the movies, what did he do. Normal things? What is normal? She had no clue what normal was, she didn't even know what she was. She nodded her head and tried to cover her notebook once he tried looking at it.

"So what did you do this summer" he asked

She began to think, what did she do this summer? She had done a lot of volunteer work and she went out with some friends. Out, meaning the back yard of her new friend Danny's house smoking pot. She remembers the first time she tried it; she had met Danny a few weeks before, thanks to Ted the formal bad boy in school, who got kicked out at the end of our junior year. Her old best friend Wendy warned her to stay away form Ted, but she didn't listen, she went out with him and ended up losing her only true friend. Ted, Danny and she were out by the woods drinking a few beers. It was the beginning of summer, and she knew that her life was slipping away, but she did nothing about it. Ted had offered her a hit of his and Danny's smoke, but she had refuse, until he told her that she was to boring and what good did it do him to have a pretty girlfriend who was boring. That my friend got her to smoke pot, telling her that she was boring and useless got her to do that. Ted tried to use that, when he wanted her to sleep with him, he even told her he would break up with her; she knew he wasn't worth it. Even though she was dead she wanted her first to mean something and losing it to him would mean nothing. He ended up breaking up with her, by the end of July. She looked at Elliot smiled at him weakly.

"Stuff"

She said and started to draw.

"Stuff, like what"

"You don't want to know"

She looked at him and saw that he was looking at her, at her lifeless eyes. She blinked and opened her mouth to say something, but she couldn't. She hated him, why did he have to look at her. Didn't he know that by looking at her he made her heart melt, that he made butterflies appear in her tummy?

"You have changed a lot, your hair is one thing, but there is something else I just don't know it yet" he said and turned around to walk to the girl in the other side
