The Unnoticed

It was early in the morning and I was hoping for a miracle, I was hoping this wasn't my life but just as I was about to believe it was that one voice spoke.

I was up, dressed, and out the door in 25 minutes flat. I walked into the school, walking past people I used to know, with my head down. The one moment I looked up, there he was. I was used to not being noticed, that's when he looked over at me. I walked faster and turned the nearest corner.

As the day wore on, and lunch went by, the bell finally rang, I was hesitant to leave knowing that I had to face my drunk, irresponsible father.

I was halfway home when I heard my name being called and saw him crossing the street. I couldn't believe he was calling after me, and turned around because I must of heard wrong. But I didn't because he said it again. I turned around, and there he was, right in front of me. Finally after 4 years of being unnoticed I was getting my chance but I was wrong.

'You dropped this.' He handed me my notebook, and walked away.

'Thanks.' Though I doubt he heard me.
