I'm the River
They compare me to liquid water,
I move fluidly across the line.
I'm never deeply rooted
like wooden bark or pine.
Always gallivanting,
never fenced in place.
I'm rushing with the current,
because I hunger for the chase.
Loathing chains and shackles,
they are not my dearest friends.
Distances are farther if your soul
ripples against river bends.
Above the high tides falling,
I simper at hurricanes.
I'm flowing underneath bridges,
evasive towards festering pains.
I'm the river.
My song flies upon loosened streams.
I take pleasure simply living tasseled dreams.
