Sisters Now and Forever

Summery: Galleria always hated having a little sister. But after a near death experience, she learns a very valuable lesson.

Author Note: This is just a short story that I actually had to do for a school project. It turned out to be so sweet, that I decided to share it with you guys.

My name is Galleria. I live with my mother, my father, and my little sister, Jean. I used to wish that I was an only child. I didn't want an annoying little sister who followed me around everywhere. That is, I wished this until I came close to losing her…

My family always takes some time off every year to go to our favorite lodge, right next to a beautiful lake. I loved to swim in the deeper part of the lake where my sister couldn't reach.

It was one of those many times when I was out in the lake, and she couldn't get over there to be next to me. I taunted her, telling her that she was just unusually short. (She was, actually, a little too short for her age, and she's always hated that.) This time, however, she wouldn't just stand still and let me tease her. She began swimming out towards me. At first, I just kept on teasing her, saying that she would never make it. Unfortunately, I was right.

When she finally got out to where her feet couldn't touch the bottom, she began to panic. Jean splashed her arms around wildly, trying to get back to the shore. At this point, I was freaking out too. I began to swim toward her, but I was too late. She went under before I could get to her.

I held my breath, and dove under the depths of the lake, searching for my sister. Jean wouldn't have made it if it hadn't been for dad. He came right in the nick of time, and helped me get Jean to the shore.

By the time we were at the sand, both my dad and I were breathing hard. Jean was shivering with fright after her near-death experience. She had almost drowned.

Now, I appreciate having my little sister around. I used to hate it when she followed me every time I went out with my friends, now I invite her to come along. I thank the Lord every day that I have my little sister, because I'm thankful that I still have her with me.

The End
