Last night the rain spoke to me
It pattered against my skin
And rocked my house
Each drop skydived
With wishful thinking
And hope and faith instilled
In every leap off the gray clouds
The drops broke their fall
With soft green leaves
And I sat under them
Under the birch limb
Or danced to the rhythm of the rain
And in me I felt freedom
Flowing through my veins
Like water and it was all around me
And above this layer of water
Somewhere
Is a clear sky with thousands of stars
Centered by a beautiful moon
Looking down from the heavens
On its dancing children
Last night the rain spoke to me
It said; laugh, love and live.
