Shiver in the Night

When muffled steps to bed their bodies gone

And silent shrouds of white blanket the ground

She cozies up in bed and waits for dawn

But listens close for any type of sound

The night wind howls and blows the leaves to earth

Where ne'er again to sprout they needs must die

Until warm springtime sun gives life in birth

The sky fills up with news of babe's first cry

But fear in darkness need not be of death

Nor shall all life wait for the break of day

The only true diff'rence is winter's breath

The chill of which is banishèd in May

Though fear of death is that which haunts her dreams

Yet faith shall teach that nothing's as it seems
