Author's Note: This chapter will probably take a while to get out due to the fact that I have restricted time on the downstairs computer... yes, sadly my computer has taken a turn for the worse and is in a coma! It won't start windows, so, I am left with the downstairs one. Without further adou, I'm writing the story.

Last time: Serenity got better! They went to the ship port, but his ship isn't ready to leave yet, so they still have time to burn...

Chapter 14
Serenity turned over a strange book in her hands. It looked like it was made of leather, but she couldn't be sure. There was no writing on it, only a strange triple circle on the cover. As Tameron came up to her, she showed it to him.

"What's this?" she asked him.

He shrugged his shoulders and took the book, opening it and letting his eyes skim over the pages. "It's a fairy tale book," he said.

"You mean as in Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, The Princess and the Pea, that kind of thing?" she asked.

He looked at her, confused. "What are you talking about?"

She sighed. "Never mind. What kind of stories are in there?" she asked.

He shrugged. "Just stories. Put it back."

He received a death glare from her. "Why won't you tell me what kind of stories are in there?" she asked.

"Because... Fairy tales are for the weak!"

"I'm not putting it back until you tell me what's in there," she said determinedly.

He sighed. "Fine. There's a story about a... man and woman who fell in love... but their parents forbade it, so they ran away together. Their parents then teamed up to find them again. So, it was a happy ending."

"Not like Romeo and Juliet?" she asked.

"Who?"

"It's a tale of two families... the Montegues and Capulets, and their children, Romeo and Juliet. Anyway, Romeo and Juliet fall in love, but their parents are in a fued. There are a few deaths and Juliet becomes engaged to a man she doesn't love. So, to end the suffering, they both commit suicide. Of course, Juliet only drank a vile of temporary poison to get out of her marriage. Romeo thought she had died, so he took some other poison... then she awoke and found him dead, so with his dagger, she killed herself."

"Well... that's an interesting fairy tale."

"It's not a fairy tale really. It was a play written by William Shakespeare."

"Wonderful," he said, sarcasm evident in his voice. Now will you put the book back?"

She nodded and replaced the book. "Where do you want to go now?" she asked him.

"Well, I saw a gun back there..." he said absently, dragging her out of the bookstore.

They both came to the window that showed the 7,890X Uproa gun. He told her to wait while he went inside and looked at it. She nodded, disgruntled, and started to pace the ground. Growing more and more bored by the second, she looked around and spotted the screen with the times of departure. She saw in dismay that their time had grown instead of lessened. "How could that've happened?" she muttered.

"What?" a voice behind her asked.

She turned around to see a young man with almost white hair and yellow eyes, at his side was a girl with black hair and yellow eyes. The man was wearing a dark blue shirt with cream slacks. His sister was wearing a red shirt with a red skirt.

Serene's eyes narrowed.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude," he said calmly. "I just couldn't help but overhear what you said."

"Sorry about that," she muttered.

"What were you talking about?" the girl asked.

"The departures."

"I know!" the girl moaned. "It seems like forever now-a-days! I mean, you're always delayed!"

"Yeah," Serene said on a sigh.

The young man stepped foreward. "My name is Dom. This is my sister, Britt."

Serenity made a half smile. "My name's Serenity."

"Pleased to meet you, Serenity. You are a very pretty girl. Surely you must have a boyfriend or be engaged?" Britt asked.

Serene made a smile that was out of irony. "Well, actually..."

"See? I told you she'd be taken," Britt told her older brother.

He looked embarrased.

"My fiance is inside that store..." she said, pointing to the window guiltily.

"He shouldn't leave you out here," Dom said solemnly. "There are people who could steal beautiful girls such as yourself and... you don't want to know..."

"I believe I don't," Serene said, eyes narrowed. "Anyway, I'm not beautiful... far from it, actually."

"So sorry to hear you believe that..." Dom said. "By the way, your boyfriend's coming."

Serenity looked confused. She turned around to see that Tameron was, indeed, coming out of the store. When she turned around to ask him how he knew that, she found that they had both disappeared.

"Strange..." she muttered.

"What is?" Tameron asked, standing at her side protectively.

"Nothing," she said. Then her face brightened. "We've got more time to burn. I'm famished. If you don't mind, could we get some food?"

He looked toward the departure times and was surprised to see that their time had increased greatly. "Sure." Then, he led her by the hand to a food court. He made her sit as he ordered some food.

She looked around at the stores, curious, and thought that it looked greatly like a mall. She saw something in a window that caught her attention greatly. She looked and saw that Tameron had a while yet before he ordered, so she went to the store with it.

The thing that caught her attention looked like some kind of sign in neon white. It was actually floating in the air at a closer look. The one in the window was actually in a language that she couldn't read as she was told when she talked with a store worker. When she asked him to translate it, he looked hesitant, then looked up to see more people entering and excused himself. She glared at him, annoyed. Then, on a second thought, she reached up to take it down, but her hands went through the thing. It felt as if it were made of water, but when she took her hands away to look at them, she found that she didn't have a drop of water on her hands. She sighed and walked out of the store, angry that she couldn't read what it said. The store worker hadn't even told her what it was, so she couldn't even call it anything more than a thing. She sat back down just in time to see Tameron making his way with platter with food on it.

As they ate something that tasted pleasantly like chicken, Serenity told him about the strange thing she saw in the window. He looked toward it himself, but couldn't make out the words from here. After they were both done, he went over to read it himself, dragging her, of course, with him. He tried to figure out what language it was in, but couldn't, so, using brute strength and threats, he dragged the sales clerk over to the thing.

She told him that it looked like one of the new prophecy series. When he asked her what the hell that was supposed to mean, she shrugged and said that she didn't know. He asked her if she could decipher it, and she told him she couldn't. Then, he glared at her until she told him that there was one in English as well, behind the desk.

Serenity knew he was trying not to beat the girl to a pulp as the sales clerk took her time in bringing it out. She almost laughed as she saw him making fists with his hands and unmaking fists. When the girl came back, he plastered a smile on his face and muttered something in her ear that made her majorly blush and apologize.

Serenity's eyes narrowed. What did you tell her?

He smirked. That I was the Prince of Dragia. Everyone knows me here, and they know that they'd better not make me angry, or else I'll blow up the planet.

She let out a small laugh that disguised what she said. "Arrogant bastard."

He heard anyway and lost his smirk. Instead, he glared at her, but she didn't pay attention, instead whitening at what she read.

*When a planet becomes destroyed, only a handful will survive from a race of powerful beings*

*From this, they will break up and fall away, only to come back through two very powerful beings who unite the eternal immortals with the mortals*

*Because of the unitation, an evil so great and powerful that it can destroy immortals as well as mortals will resurface from the past and the connection will vanish*

*The bond between the two beings will weaken and eventually vanish altogether*

*The power that they hold will be significant when they try to beat the evil*

*The evil will want one of the two for its own purposes and will take the being away*

*The being left will be more desolate and alone than it had ever been in its life*

*One of the two beings will fade and vanish altogether*

*The evil will be defeated*

"Well, that's positive thinking at work there," Tameron muttered.

"Funny," Serenity said sarcastically. Then she turned to him. "The next time you attempt humor warn me."

"Why?"

"So I can stop you or hide."

"Funny," he said sarcastically.

"Will you buy it?"

He looked at her as if she had grown two heads. "It's morbid."

"I feel a connection with it," she persisted.

He smirked. "Like what?"

"Well... our planet was destroyed by a supernova..."

"And?"

"Your mother and father and my mother and father were left, but they broke up. My parents went to Earth."

"That doesn't mean anything."

"We're their children. Aleena is an immortal as well as my mother and father and your mother."

"Well..." he said hesitantly."

"We have a bond-"

"Link," he corrected, then told the sales clerk that he wanted to purchase it.

She told him it was free of charges.

He nodded and led Serenity out of the store. "I still don't understand the evil part. How can MY powers become insignificant?"

She sighed. "I'm wondering how the evil can destroy immortals. It just doesn't make sense if you ask me."

He looked thoughtful as well. "Oh well. I don't believe in prophecies."

She laughed at him as they made their way back to the screen. The time departure had still grown. They'd have to wait seven hours now.

"I'm getting tired of this," Tameron grumbled. "Let's go see what's going on up there."

R&R Sorry it's short, but I have to share a computer with my two sisters who love going on the internet.
