There's Something About That Christmas Magic

"Why can't every day be like Christmas?
Why can't that feeling go on endlessly?
For every day could be just like Christmas,
What a wonderful world this could be!"
-'If Every Day Was Like Christmas' by Elvis Presley

I let out a sigh, snuggling closer to the warm body beside me. If someone had told me a month ago that I would be spending my Christmas with the most gorgeous and perfect guy ever, I would have laughed in their face.
And now I found myself snuggling beside one, more content than I'd ever been in my life.
But I guess I should tell you how Aiden and I ended up sharing a bed, now shouldn't I?
Well, once I had barged back into the house and begged Aiden to drive me back home, he flat out refused, telling me that I would stay the night and wait until tomorrow to worry about the car.
He asked his mom to make up the bed in the guest room for me, but there was just one small problem – the room was already occupied. In fact, all of the guest bedrooms in the entire house were filled with other family members. The only place I could stay was with Aiden in his room, to which I was the only one vehemently objecting to.
Oddly enough, the rest of the family was cool with it. They seemed to think that it was okay, based on the fact that we were a couple now and that we were both adults and could make our own decisions.
But it was strangely horrifying when Mrs. Marks gave me a not-so-subtle wink as she went off to her room. That made me wonder what they thought we were up to.
Okay, so maybe we made out and stuff, but it's not like we did it or anything! Geez... although, I did have to restrain myself from jumping Aiden's bones when he took off his shirt.
Now that was a Christmas present worth waiting for. And I got it a day early. I must have been really good this year or something...
Anyway, back to the snuggling. Waking up on Christmas morning right next to the sexiest guy on the planet sure was a great start to a great day. His gorgeous blue eyes still lidded from sleep met with mine and he flashed me a lopsided grin before kissing me on the cheek.
"Merry Christmas." he said, reaching an arm out to play with some of my hair. However cute this movement was, I couldn't help but stare at his chest, which had been conveniently revealed when he moved his arm. Yummy chest...
Eventually I found the strength to tear my gaze away, so I got up from the bed with all intentions of getting dressed when I realized that I had no clothes to wear save for the outfit I had worn last night. I mean, I had to borrow a t-shirt and pajama pants from Aiden to sleep in last night. Not that I minded wearing his clothes or anything – come to think of it, I didn't think he minded either.
"Hey Aiden," I called out to the sleepy man still in bed, "what am I supposed to wear?"
"It's Christmas, Jade. You wear pajamas, don't take a shower, and don't give a damn about any of it."
The discussion ended after that. We ran down the stairs like eight years olds still believing in Santa Claus, only to find that most of the family was up already.
When we sat down in the living room, the first thing I noticed was the enormous pile of presents underneath that Christmas tree. Natalie, the poor little kid, was sitting there and had been eagerly waiting for us to come down so she could open her presents. Now she was tearing through them all and letting out an occasional squeal when she found something she really liked. We all watched her open her presents before everyone started handing out the rest.
Soon enough, I learned that they forced every person to open their gifts one at a time, from the youngest in the family to the oldest. First, obviously, was Natalie. Then all four of Leanne's kids. Then Stephen and Jack, Aiden's two stepbrothers.
Finally it was Aiden's turn.
But I was shocked when Leanne handed me two beautifully wrapped gifts.
"You two get to open yours together." Mrs. Marks said with a pleased smile on her face. The entire family was staring at us in anticipation.
"You guys seriously did not have to get me anything." I said hastily, still staring at the presents in shock. Only vaguely did I remember the two presents still sitting in the back of my car.
"Go on, just open them." Aiden said beside me, already fingering a nice leather wallet he had received.
Taking a deep breath, I opened the presents.
"No way," I breathed. In my hands now were two highly expensive gifts – a beautiful silver bracelet and a very nice set of paintbrushes.
"I don't deserve this." I kept muttering quietly, but everyone just laughed.
"You're part of the family now, whether you like it or not." James said.
I smiled.
And that's when I finally remembered.
"OH! I totally forgot! Aiden, give me your slippers. I need to get your presents out of my car!"
So, with the warm slippers to save my feet from frostbite, I dashed out to my poor dead car and grabbed a covered canvas and a single sheet of paper lying there. Then I brought them back into the house.
"This is for the entire family," I announced, gesturing to the canvas. Everyone seemed to look at it anxiously, wondering just what it was.
But then I guess Leanne understood what it was, and grabbed the sheet off of it, revealing a colorful abstract design done in the very best oil paints I owned. They all gasped, crowding around it and praising it. In truth, it made me quite uncomfortable, but I knew they all loved it.
Then I spotted Natalie out of the corner of my eye.
"Hey Nat, I have something for you." I handed her the drawing from the other day – the one that copied what she had drawn, just in more significant detail – and she let out a loud gasp and a squeal, causing everyone else to wonder what was going on.
Natalie, the excited little kid she was, paraded the picture in front of everyone. Again, they raved over my work, each family member wanting to examine it and complimenting me.
"I do hope you know how to deflate that ego of yours," Jack said jokingly, "because this will be the talk of the next couple of months. Our family has nothing better to do than rant and rave over the same thing for days on end. In fact, I have no doubt that your painting will be hanging in this room within a week."
Blushing, I laughed and went in search of Aiden. I was going to ask him whether or not we would have breakfast, because I was getting quite hungry.
I was stopped by the entire family, all staring at me. At first I thought they were going to keep on raving about the painting and drawing, but something told me that they weren't.
It was something different.
"There's one last present for you, Jade. It's from all of us."
Aiden then handed me a plain white envelope. Cautiously, I opened it and found...
"Cruise tickets?"
"Every year, our family goes on a cruise for New Year's. We want you to join us."
My hand holding the tickets began to tremble, and I fought hard not to cry. It was so sweet, so perfect, and quite possibly the best gift I had ever received.
"But I always spend New Year's with Grey. It's like, tradition or something..." I started babbling, looking at the tickets in my hands in disbelief.
The family I expected to be sad and depressed only smiled further.
"I figured you'd say that. Remember, you told me about this? About a week ago?" Aiden asked, holding something behind his back. I bluntly nodded, still staring at the tickets in my hands.
"Yeah?"
"Here."
And soon a phone was thrust into my arms. Giving Aiden a startled look, I cautiously held it up to my ear and murmured a quiet 'hello?'
"JADE!"
"Oh, hi Grey. Listen, um... about our New Year's tradition thing..."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Aiden called me. Don't worry about little old me, you go on a cruise with your sexy guy!"
My jaw dropped in disbelief.
"You mean, you're not... mad or anything?"
And the one person I totally expected to blow up at me for breaking one of our traditions, only laughed and said one last thing before hanging up.
"Don't forget the condoms!"
