Too Young, Too old
The Adolescent Friend
Sometimes I can't stand you,
With all the careless things you say,
You have little regard,
For anyone else's pain,
Sometimes I want to shake you,
So that you may understand,
Just where I'm coming from,
And I know that you're naive,
And that it's not your fault,
But then nothing is, is it?
It never has been,
It's never had to be,
You get to act weak and defenseless,
And maybe you are,
Perhaps you're everything that I think,
Maybe you're weak,
And maybe you're dumb,
But that's no excuse,
To say that I am wrong,
Until you've lived my life,
Until you've felt my pain,
Save your sermons for the living,
If I had the chance I'd shake you,
Until you break,
Until your tears stop,
And you stand up straight,
Until you take your blame,
To make you grow up and have everything change,
Because I may love you,
But for this I can't wait,
You're weak and defenseless,
This is because you're naïve,
And if you insist,
To act this way around me,
I will not be afraid,
To put you in your place,
This is your warning,
My advice I'd personally heed,
For I tell the truth,
Sometimes I can't stand you,
You act so naïve…
