I wasn't alone,

The time of year,

For laughter and cheer,

Your emotions unknown.

You go across the street,

Put on your fake smile,

Stay a little while,

And leave very discrete.

They greet you with 'Happy New Year!'

You return the phrase,

Smile and grin, don't let them see your plays,

Slip out with the old year.

I wasn't alone,

For this new year,

And yet it seems clear,

I was so alone.

I went over to my neighbor's for New Years and felt very alone. No one my age was there and I was babied as always.

Happy New Years.
