Into the Wind
Dedicated to the Neuqua Valley High School girls track and cross country teams
We've accepted the challenge and taken the test,
Left our minds behind, let our hearts do the rest,
We test our own limits, for only we know them,
They say we are weak, but now we will show them.
'Cause it's many miles into the wind,
And we don't know who we'll be,
When we come back again,
But for now all that matters,
Is we dared to begin,
These many miles into the wind.
We've set ourselves free and let joy course through us,
We've been told we were crazy but nobody knew us,
We live for these moments and thrive on these highs,
Crash and burn and then ask ourselves why.
'Cause it's many miles under the sun,
And we don't know how to live,
But oh, can we run,
And we don't know who we'll be,
When we are done,
With many miles under the sun.
We can't change the past but we'll never forget,
The mistakes we've made that we've come to regret,
We forgive who we were, put all that to rest,
We've been at the bottom but we're now at our best.
'Cause it's many miles up to the sky,
Though we may not have wings,
We believe we can fly,
And I'll take your hand,
If you'll hold onto mine,
Through many miles up to the sky.
If I had my choice,
I'd do it all again…
Even if only into the wind.
