Nerd Wars
The bus sat in silence. The silence was eerie. The people sat with eyes attentively forward. What could they do? They were all going to a war, for Pete's sake! Of course it was about time that they took things into their own hands. They were tired of being called, Geek, or Dork, or whatever. They had power; they could do things.
But how in hell did I get them to do this? I asked myself. Me? The person no one ever listened too. I'm a nobody! How did I convince them to go to war against all the other magnet schools?
Regardless, I had convinced the entire John Jay Science and Engineering Academy (or SEA) student populous to join me on my crusade.
"We will be arriving shortly to our designated drop off point, please, remember, that I am a robot, and do not harm me, because of what I am programmed to say. Thank you!" the robotic driver announced.
I chuckled under my breath, despite the horror growing inside me. The inventors of the robot, the Robo-Nerds, as I called them, had created a large amount of these robots, to transport our army to the war zone, with out getting lost. Ironically, we were already fourteen minutes late from the scheduled attack time.
"Good thing that the Robo-Nerds didn't come," I said almost silently, "They would not be very good in a fight."
"You said it," replied Steven Huffman who was sitting right across from me, "This is a war, and we need fighters, not sissy, robot men."
Steven was a tall, 5 feet 9 inches. He was a somewhat buff young man, who had learned that he might not like what was going on, and if he could, he would change the situation. Yet, when I finished my speech about the other magnet schools, he stood up and swore loyalty to me. And in the last few weeks, he has changed. He used to be, sort of flabby, with a bit of a gut, and constantly making nerd jokes. But after the beginning battles, he changed. No doubt, he was a great military advisor and a good man to cover your back, but he was more like a bloodthirsty warrior, than the young man that I once knew.
"You heard me?" I asked.
"Yes, yes I did, not much escapes me now, SEA science does wonders when it actually works!" he pointed to his ears, which were now, more like little wires sputtering out of his head.
"Hey," yelled a voice behind me, "I invented those!"
"Well, I'll be dammed! Colin I couldn't hardly see ya behind those big war bus chairs!"
"Yeah? Well, at least I can—"
"Guys!" I interrupted, "We need to fight the enemy not ourselves!"
Both Colin and Steven grumbled at what I just said, they both were so used to me not getting in the way of other people's battles, but since I came up with the war ideas, and started the war in the first place, I unfortunately, came into a lot of power; very fast.
I turned my head and examined Colin, who was writing down stock, I assumed, of our weaponry. As far as I could tell, we had more than enough to win the battle today.
"Whatcha doing?" I asked him.
"Checking our weapons," responded Colin, "Do you know that we hardly have enough siege weapons to do what your thinking?"
"Yeah, I know."
Colin was a smallish young man, about 5 feet and 3 inches. But what he lacked in physical strength he made up in smarts, as he had said he invented the ears that Steven had instead of real ears. In fact, there wasn't a person at our school that had not been upgraded by Colin's genius.
I turned around and stared out the front of the bus, we were leaving the road we were on and going to a dirt road that seemingly led nowhere. Then without warning the bus turned right into the trees. After driving for a while we started to hear big trembling noises, as if the entire ground was shaking. The bus started to slow down as we reached the edge of the forest. Then completely stopped and when it did we had a full view of the war ground.
The other school was very well armed for a school that was just attacked and had no time to be completely prepared. I saw that the enemy was retreating. I stood up in the front of the bus and yelled loud enough for everyone on the bus to hear me."People of Science Academy! I know that you are probably scared right now, but that is okay. If you weren't afraid I would call you crazy! But who is the better school?"
They replied, "Science Academy!"
"Who has better strength?" I asked.
"Science Academy!" They replied again.
"Who is ready to fight?" This last question, I hoped would not leave any deserters because they were to frightened to fight, but to my relief they all called out as loud as they could- Science Academy!
"Now men lets go great the enemy!" And with that last statement they all ran out of the bus straight to the battle field, with Steven out in front of them all with his swords in hand.
Colin walked up to me. I looked at him, and he said, "Divina called me, she said that they closed the main doors, and they have archers on the roof, our men won't make it."
I quickly looked out to Steven who was a good 10 yards ahead of them. I looked at the building looming before him. I saw him jump, once, twice, three times! He leapt for the building and he reached the building halfway up the side of the wall with his swords impaled in the side of it. He slowly started to take out one of his swords out of the wall, then stuck it higher up the wall, then repeated this movement with his other sword. He was slowly moving up the building. The rest of the men met the wall and started to climb.
I responded to Colin's statement with a smile, "They look like they will make it, and as far as archers, I see none! Hurry we must go find Divina, we must figure out how to get the rest of our men in."
With that said we started to run off, but not in the direction of the building, we ran through the woods, to our war camps about half a mile away from the front doors of the building, well away from any archers or siege weapons that they might have. As we approached the war camps I looked for a tent that would have an atom on the door-flap, which would be where Divina would be.
