A/N: This is my first story, based on a dream I had that Bob Bryer the drummer in My Chemical Romance was my cousin. Please read and review!
Chapter One- Jacob Ballard
"Annabel," he looked into my eyes. Nervously, he said, "I love you." My heart skipped a beat.
"I love you, too Frank." We both smiled. He started leaning towards me, and my heart skipped another beat. I closed my eyes in anticipation.
Then, he licked my face.
My eyes flew opened. In front of me wasn't Frank Wiegand, but my dog, Minnie, licking my face.
"Minnie," I groaned, "that was such a good dream, why'd you have to go ruin it?" She jumped off of my bed, and barked. I sighed, "You're right, I could never be mad at you."
I sat up, and looked at my surroundings. It was the summer after my first year at college. I was spending it at home with my dad. Being at home was weird, yet comforting. My old room was exactly how I left it; my dad hadn't changed a thing. The bed was still under the window, my desk in the corner across from the door, and so many posters on the walls that you couldn't even see the paint underneath it. That was partially because the paint was pink, but mostly because they were Pencey Prep posters.
Pencey Prep, the best band ever, my favorite band. They were like an obsession to me. Shane Hall, lead vocalist, bassist, and Shane's younger brother, Adam Hall. The Drummer, Jake Ballard, and Roman Ortiz the lead guitarist. Then Frank Wiegand, the man in my dreams. He is the rhythm guitarist in Pencey Prep, and the hottest man alive. I am totally in love with him. My friends say I will never get a boyfriend since I'm in love with Frank, which is probably true.
I smiled as I turned to the wall right next to my bed. There was a life-sized picture of Frank's head, and I kissed it. I know, I know, that's a little strange, but it was a morning ritual that I had when I was in high school, and I'm not about to change tradition.
"Sweetie," I heard my dad's voice say from outside of my bedroom door, "are you up? I made bacon and eggs, if you want them."
"Yea, I'm up dad," I replied. "Just give me a second."
I heard him go down the stairs, and back into the kitchen. I knew he was happy to have me back. I was his only child, and my mom died when I was two, so me going away to college was hard for him.
I got up, and brushed my hair quickly before going downstairs. I loved my appearance, having my mom's platinum blonde hair and my dad's green eyes.
When I got into the kitchen, I kissed my dad on the cheek before sitting down. I loved my dad's cooking. Being an only parent, he had to learn how to cook, and found out that he was really good at it.
"It's great to have you home, Annabel," my dad said once I sat down.
"It's great to be home," I said truthfully. I guess Dorothy was right, there is no place like home.
"So, what do you want to do today?" my dad asked.
"Well, I heard that Julie was coming home for the summer, too." Julie was by best friend, and we hadn't seen each other since high school. "I figured I go visit her, is that okay?"
He nodded, "Sure, go ahead."
"Okay," I said when I had finished eating, "I'm going to get ready," I kissed him on the cheek, again. "Thanks for breakfast." He just nodded in reply as I walked upstairs and into my bedroom.
I took a quick shower and got changed. Then I called Julie.
"Hello?" I heard her sister say when she answered.
"Hey, Maureen, It's Annabel."
"Oh, hey!" she said. "I go get Julie."
"Okay, thanks." I said.
I waited a minute, and then heard, "Annabel?"
"Oh my god, Julie! I haven't talked to you in, like, forever!" I said.
"I didn't know you were coming back for the summer," she said.
"Oh, well you're sister told me you were coming." I replied. "Can you hang out today?"
"Yea, do you want to come over?"
"Yea, I'll be there in twenty minutes, okay?"
"Okay see ya!" She hung up the phone, and so did I.
"Annabel!" Julie shrieked when she answered the door. She hugged me, "God, it's so good to see you!"
"Same here," I said, smiling. We had been best friends forever, and college wouldn't ruin that friendship.
When she let go, I saw her sister standing behind her. "Hey, Mo," I said, and hugged her too.
We went up to Julie's bedroom, which also had Pencey Prep posters, but not as many as my room, she wasn't as obsessed as I was. We just sat in her room the whole day, talking, and lost track of time.
"Oh, it's 10:30!" I said, "I should call my dad."
"Do you want to stay over night?" Julie asked.
"Sure, let me just call my dad." I took out my cell phone, and dialed my house number.
"Hello?" my dad said.
"Hey, it's me dad." I said.
"Oh, are you still at Julie's?"
"Yea, can I stay here tonight?" I asked. I knew he would say yes.
"Sure, honey, but do you remember you aunt Pam?" he asked.
"The one in Chicago?" I had no idea why he was asking this.
"Yea, well she's coming to visit tomorrow with her son and his band."
"Jacob's in a band?" Jacob was my older cousin, and I had never met him or my aunt Pam, she was my mom's identical twin sister.
"Apparently. Anyway, they're all coming tomorrow around noon, could you be home by then?" he asked.
"I'll be back by noon." I said, "See you tomorrow, dad."
"By, Annabel, and tell Julie I said hi." We both hung up.
"What was that about?" Julie asked me.
"My mom's twin sister, Pam, is coming to visit, along with my older cousin and his band." I said.
"Have you ever met Pam or you're cousin?" she asked.
"At my mom's funeral, I guess, but it's not like I would remember them, I was only two." I replied.
"So, how much older is he?" she asked.
"Four years, I think." I replied, "We've never really kept track of what's going on with them, I mean they live in Chicago."
"So, you're gonna have a bunch of band guys at you're house tomorrow," she smiled, "can I come?" When it came to guys in bands, Julie couldn't resist.
"Give them at least a day before you start flirting with them," I laughed a little, and she pouted. "Besides, what about Sam?" Sam was Julie's boyfriend.
"Who said I was going to flirt with them?" she asked.
"You're smile, Jules, I know that smile." We both laughed.
"I just want to meet them, I would never cheat on Sam."
"I know, Julie," I said. She was obsessed with Sam, and they were completely in love.
"So what's you're cousin's name?" she asked, getting back on the subject of tomorrows visit.
"Jacob Ballard." I said.
"Do you know what he looks like?" She asked.
"I think the only picture of him that we have of him is when he's five or so," I said, trying to remember what the picture looked like. "I think I remember him having his mom's blonde hair, but he looked exactly like his dad."
"Kind of like you." Julie said, which was true. The only thing of my mom I had was her hair; everything else was my dad's.
"Well, if you have to be home by noon, we should try to get some sleep." It was already 11:30. But that never happened. We stayed up practically the whole night, talking.
"Shit shit shit shit shit!" I yelled. It was 12:30, and I was still at Julie's house, in my pajamas!
"Uggg…" Julie said, rolling over, "What time is it?"
"12:30!" I shouted.
"Shit!" Julie jumped out of bed, and started helping me get ready.
"We over slept!" I said, "I should be home, my aunt's already there!"
"Okay, Annabel, calm down, it's not that big a deal." Julie said, handing me my purse.
"Shit, where are my car keys!" I ran around franticly, looking for my keys.
"Annabel!" I turned towards Julie, who was holding my keys, "They were next to the clock."
"Right, thanks." I said. "Sorry to have to leave," I said, running down the stairs, still in my pajamas and slippers. "I'll call you later, okay?"
"Okay, bye!" she said, as I ran out the door to my car.
I couldn't believe I had done this; I was never late for anything. It was 1 o'clock now. I drove to my house quickly. My hair was not brushed, and I wasn't changed, but to bad, this is how I was going to have to greet my dad, aunt and my cousin and his band.
When I pulled into my drive way I saw that there was a van parked in front of the house. I ran to my door, and tried to unlock the door, but my key wouldn't turn. Then I realized the door was unlocked already. I ran inside and heard my dad say, "Sorry about my daughter's lateness, she was with a friend last night."
"I'm here!" I said, running into the living room. "I'm here, dad I'm so sorry! We overslept and I lost my car key and…" my voice trailed off as I looked up at the people in my living room.
They looked really familiar. I saw my dad and aunt right away. I continued looking around the room. There were five boys, a little older that myself, sitting there, I figured this was my cousin's band. I looked at each of them in turn. Then I realized why I they looked familiar. I screamed, and then passed out.
Pencey Prep was sitting in my living room!
