Chapter Two – The Deal

"Bitch," I said.

"Sara!" Lydia laughed.

Alex was trying to hide his face behind his hands, which was pretty impossible, especially with a beanie on his head.

Lydia and I looked out. Sophia was definitely coming in Nic's. As soon as Sophia pushed open the shop door, Lydia immediately started a make out session with Alex.

Sophia, with that little boy, saw the both of them making out. Then, she quickly turned away.

That was what I loved about Lydia. She was someone who knew how to deal with things. Although Alex and Lydia making out right in front of me was pretty disgusting, the look on Sophia's face was absolutely worth it!

When Sophia was at the corner end of the coffee shop, Alex and Lydia were still making out.

"Uh, you can stop now," I whispered.

Lydia opened her eyes and stopped when she saw that Sophia wasn't there anymore.

"How was her reaction?" Lydia asked excitedly.

"Oh it was priceless! It was obvious she was jealous!" I answered.

Alex was just smiling. His cheeks were turning red.

Damn how I wish I could make someone jealous like that too.

The next day, I decided to skip detention after school. I mean, no one would find out right? The only people who stay back after school are the cheerleaders and basketball players. Like they would notice me.

I was walking in the hall, carefully scanning around to avoid Ms. Adel and Mrs. Morrison. I turned around to see if either one of them was behind me. Not a soul at sight.

I continued walking while singing One Republic's all we are. After all, I was the only one in the hall.

Again, I turned around to check is either one of the devils were behind me. And again, there was no one. However, when I turned back around, I bumped into something really hard and fell to the ground.

I looked up. It wasn't something. It was someone.

Ms. Delia was sitting in front reading a novel. The seat beside me in detention was empty. Sara skipped detention. Why didn't I think of that?

It was quite since Ms. Delia would not let us make any noise at all. Even a slight noise of a chair moving would piss her off. She claimed that it would destroy the whole purpose of detention.

This woman definitely had no life outside of school.

I stared at my watch, watching the time slowly pass. This was taking forever!

Damn that stupid science geek in class. If he never told Ms. Adel that this I had been listening to my iPod in her classes, I would not be here right now.

The silence is killing me.

Damn you, Bernard McMichael, damn you.

"Aren't you supposed to be in detention?" he asked.

He, Chris Matthews, the school's basketball star, was talking to me. It's not that I cared, but if you really looked at him, he is as hot as people say he is.

"Uh, how would you know where I'm supposed to be?" I asked back.

"I was in the same class when you got sent to the principal's office," he answered.

"Oh, well…" I clearly didn't have anything to say.

Then, Chris suddenly grabbed me by the arms and pulled me into the boy's toilet.

"What the hell did you pull me in here for?" I demanded an answer as he let go of my arms.

"Hiding you from Mrs. Morrison," he answered.

Oh, oops.

"Well, you could've pulled me into the girl's toilet instead! Or you could've just told me!" I replied.

He shrugged.

"I'm outta here!" I said, walking towards the door.

Just as I touched the door handle, Chris cleared his throat.

"Who says I'm not ratting you out?" he said.

"What?" I turned around.

Chris was smirking. Damn he's hot. He was about to blackmail me, I know, but I can't stop thinking how hot he is.

"I want something in return if you don't want me to rat you out to Mrs. Morrison or Ms. Adel."

He was still smirking.

"I'm not sleeping with you like I'm some cheap whore okay. I'd prefer you rat me out then," I said angrily.

"Uh, that was not what I had in mind at all."

I blushed and let go of the door handle.

"What then?" I turned around and ask.

"I want you to pretend to be my new girlfriend," he replied.

"What? What happened to Megan?"

"I told her I'm breaking up with her because I'm in love with someone else."

"And why me?"

"Well, practically every girl in this school would die to be her friend. That way, she'll find out things very easily. But you wouldn't care if you were her friend or not. Besides, you're pretty much a loner with your two other buddies."

"My 'two other buddies' have names. I'll pass. Go ahead and tell Mrs. Morrison and Ms. Adel."

"Oh do you really want that? With all your past bad records, you could get expelled."

I narrowed my eyes.

"How long?" I finally gave in.

"I don't know. That depends," he answered.

I crossed my arms.

"Here's my number. Call me," he smiled, giving me a piece of paper.

I snatched it and opened the toilet door.

"Damn, what are you doing in here?" Brennan, one of Chris's friends was walking in and looking at me from head to toe.

"Asshole," I said to him before leaving the boy's toilet.

"Did she say yes?" Brennan asked.

"Hell yes," I answered.

"Megan's going to freak, man," Brennan replied.

I just smiled at him before leaving the boy's toilet.

Brennan was right. Megan was definitely going to freak.
