Apple
An apple for Adam, an apple for Eve,
In the absence of sin is still misery.
A day spent in sunlight, among golden leaves
Is still fair game for the death of the trees.
A cup full of light, and an eye set on dark.
A heart full of love can still miss the mark.
Forgive me my sins and my trespasses too,
For I see your transgressions and still forgive you.
When the clouds overshadow the sky and the sun
Into your open arms I will willingly run.
Until that day comes I cannot promise you
Any truth from my heart, but love serves in lieu.
I don't have much time, and even less faith
But at least I have courage to keep you still safe.
