Angel and the Sea

"I am tired of living,"

Said the angel to the sea.

"I am tired of living,

And would rather cease to be.

"I have seen enough of this

Suffering endlessly.

I have seen enough of this

And will soon take leave of thee.

"I would be a cloud,

A vapor in the sky,

And leave behind the sights

That horrify my eye.

"I would be a moonbeam,

Shooting through the dark,

Illuminating beauty,

And swiftly shrouding stark."

The angel said this to the sea

In chaos silent still.

He said it very quietly

But echoes still will thrill.
