1Dark & Light

The dark smothers me

crushing my bones

sucking the oxygen out of my lungs.

And the pressure, oh pressure

it wells up inside of me,

bursting down my cheeks,

rivers of salty tears

pooling at my feet.

Darkness pulls my hair,

my heart aches constantly

and my head throbs painfully

in the suffocating dark

the absence of light

weighs down on me,

I collapse, struggling to inhale,

but my lungs are shriveled,

my throat clogged with

intangible black.

Light.

I need light-

the feeling of stability,

feet planted firmly on the solid ground

warm rays kiss my skin

mind clear, heart floating

and the cool air forced down my lungs

in the liberating light.
