A voice whispered in my ear
"The rope gets softer towards the end"
I'm through with hiding in the dark
but there's no light that I can see

I'm grasping at purple feathers
contemplating life
Half truths are half lies
waiting for fate to intervene
(Was it always going to be you?)

Tell me, what's the greater sin
murder or suicide?
Would confession save my soul
or damn yours, eternally?

I'm falling with purple feathers
contemplating faith
Half truths are half lies
waiting for fate to intervene
(Is it ever going to be you?)

And I'm making promises
I don't intend to keep
And I'm taking chances
'cause I'm afraid to speak
('cause I'm afraid to...)
(I'm afraid, too)

You taste the darkness just to feel
but is a taste really enough?
Can you escape that jagged edge; your soul's already tainted
Is just a taste ever enough?
(never enough)
(it's never enough)

I'm searching for purple feathers
contemplating death
Half truths are half lies
(I'm still waiting)
waiting for fate to intervene
Half truths are half lies
(I'm still waiting)
waiting for fate to intervene

And I'm making promises
I don't intend to keep
And I'm taking chances
'cause I'm afraid to speak
('cause I'm afraid to...)
(I'm afraid, too)

A/N: Here's a a quick review for those of you not familiar with the symbolic meaning of purple or feathers, or at least the meanings I choose to focus on, as the intended meaning changes throughout "I'm Still Waiting." Darker purple tends to evoke mystery, nostalgia, gloom, and is naturally a rare color and often considered to be false or fake. Feathers are associated with truth, hope, faith, ascension, prayer, or spiritual communication, depending on the religion. On a side note I was literally playing with purple feathers when I came up with that line, which was two months shy of a year ago. 'Tis a long "you just had to be there" kind of story.
