He couldn't stand the thought of hurting her like he came so close to last night. When her lips touched his he could feel a volt of electricity charge through his veins. The very look of her sent chills up his spine. When he watched her run through her training course he could feel the energy and adrenaline pumping through her and once more he was human, but that couldn't happen because he wasn't a human any more. He was a blood-sucking beast and that was all there was to it.
He knew she loved him, but how could she love him when she knew what he was? It made absolutely no sense because people generally avoided him because they, deep in their conscience, know what he is. So how could she even stand to look at him? The mere sight of her training and practicing, hearing her blood pumping through her heart and her veins was enough to drive him crazy. He loved to watch her meditate, just sitting there in her black silk pajamas with Godsmack, or whoever else she felt like listening to at that particular moment in time, playing on her stereo.
Those thoughts followed him all the way to his house. Hardly any of the neighbors knew he existed while others were knocking at all hours of the day. He had to act like he wasn't home during the day so they would leave him alone. One particular family would not leave him alone for all the money in the world. They knocked continuously and when he finally got out of his coffin he was more tired then when he went to bed. He walked up to his door and slipped the key out of his pocket and into the lock. He slipped inside just as the sun was coming up over the horizon.
She rummaged through her closet trying to find a decent outfit for school. She hated this part of the day. Most of her clothes were tight, made to fit her perfectly without any friction. So to find an outfit that did just the opposite was hard. After several tries she finally found something. She put on her black skirt that went to her thighs and her white and red tank top. She went to her mirror and reapplied her make-up. She brushed out her hair and threw it up into a ponytail. She slipped into a pair of her black heels and grabbed her books and her purse, then went to the kitchen.
When she reached the kitchen she put everything down and went to the counter to turn on the coffee maker. She opened the cabinet door and grabbed a granola bar from the box. She poured herself a glass of orange juice and hurriedly eat her breakfast. She then went to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. She had just finished gargling when she heard her mother stirring. Then she realized what time it was. She had to get outside then. She turned off the faucet and ran to the kitchen to get her things then ran outside.
Joseph jogged home and ran straight up his porch to cool down. He stretched and flexed all the while thinking of Adora. He loved the way her lips slightly turned up when she tried to suppress a smile. Then again he loved the way she got all fiery mad when he did something wrong. The shape of her face, her hazel eyes, her full red lips, Stop it! He demanded of himself, you're driving yourself crazy.
He slipped into his house and snuck up to the bathroom to take a shower. He turned on the faucet and steam billowed out along with the hot water. He stepped in and quickly washed up.
After his shower he grabbed his towel and wrapped it around his waist. He walked to his room and flipped on his stereo. He stepped over to his closet and opened the door. There stood a man. One of the largest men Joseph had ever seen. He stepped around the man and flipped on his light. "Hello, Lucius. How have you been?"
"Hello, how are you?" he snarled. "You let the girl slip through your hands. What were you thinking?" He clenched his hands into fists.
"I was thinking I'd gain her trust than do this whole thing. I swear you aren't paying me enough for this?" He stepped over to his clothes and grabbed an Adidas shirt and his black baggy jeans.
"You're not paid to think; you are paid to do as I tell you. Comprende? Now go get her." he glared at Joseph.
"Why don't you leave this thing to me and you don't have to worry about a thing?" he reached to pat his head teasingly.
"You don't have that kind of authority so why are you trying so hard to take over this, Joseph? I'll have to kill you if you fail in this mission. You do know that, don't you?" he stepped away. Shaking his head he walked toward the door and turned around suddenly, "I do pay you enough, by the way." He turned around and headed out the door.
Joseph laughed and went to get dressed. He slipped into his jeans and pulled his shirt on over his head. He put on his black socks and slipped into his black cross-trainers. He grabbed his messenger bag and his keys, then ran out to the car.
