Part 3: The First Bridge
I stood there staring at it for a moment then I reached out towards it. It didn't move or bite me. I reached for its head and pet it, it licked my hand. Kind of cute when its not ripping your hand apart. I realized where I was and I didn't know how to get back, I never did think things through all the way. I began to walk towards one of the ends of the bridge and the wolf stared at me. I didn't mind, really. When I got to the end I stopped for a moment and began thinking. Where does this lead? What if this takes me somewhere worse? I shook off these thoughts and continued. I had nowhere else to go anyways. I kept walking and everything got dark, then bright again. I was at the other side of the bridge, with the wolf still staring at me. Did I just go in a circle? I tried it one more time, same results. I gave up and walked back towards the middle, where the wolf waited with mocking eyes. What did he know anyways? It was a he, right? I sat next to it and pet it for a bit, looking up and waiting for some kind of answer to appear. Before I knew it I was lying down, then a little drowsy, and slowly I drifted to sleep.
I had a dream. I was running away from myself. I didn't know why, but I knew I was dangerous somehow, and I wanted nothing to do with it. I just ran through the woods, through the surrounding trees and looking out for traps I laid out for myself. Weird how I was trying to capture myself. Suddenly I heard Sandy's words, "You're holding back, Alex."
It was then that I knew what I had to do. I stopped running and turned around. Shortly, I appeared in front of me. We stared at each other for a bit, like if he was waiting for a response, so I gave him one. I walked towards him and absorbed him into my hand. Weird, I know, but this was the only thing that I could do. I felt tired and passed out again.
A dream inside of a dream? No. I woke to the wolf licking my face. The wolf's eyes were a different color now. They were black before, but now they were a weird shade of blue. It looked as if he had a universe in his eyes, so cool. I started talking to him, "You need a name, don't you, boy?" He looked at me expectantly, could he understand me? Nah, it was just my imagination "How about…Leon?" He barked and wagged his tail. How cute, I thought. "Okay then, Leon, any idea on how to get out of here?"
Then I heard a voice in my head, "I have no idea, that's up to you."
"WOAH! Who's that?" I yelled.
"It's me, Leon."
"Huh? You can talk?"
"No, you can hear my thoughts because you're my creator."
"What do you mean? I'm your creator?"
"Yes, you dreamt me and i came true."
"So Sandy was right? Can I dream other stuff? How many things can I dream up? How doe-"
"No more," Leon cut me off, "you already know the answers to these questions. Just search inside yourself, you'll understand soon enough. I have high hopes for you, master."
That's when I started to really wonder how far this can really go. Master...that sounded nice. The power, the followers. Yes, this was going to be fun. No! I can't give in to greed and power. I still have friends and a family. I had to get out of here, this dark surrounding was affecting my thoughts, and Leon. I noticed the more I thought about power and lust, the bigger he got and the spikier his fur got. I decided to finally ask, "So, how do we get out of here?"
He responded, "Close your eyes and take us out. Simple as that."
I tested it out, I felt a small rush of wind come by and then I appeared by the box again. Sandy was gone and it was already night time. I decided to run back home before I got in too much trouble...
