I've got a theory, and you're probably not going to like it, even though it really hasn't got a whole lot to do with you as an individual. It's more to do with the entire human race, but being part of that race, you're still not going to like it. Here we go anyway...

You are flawed. No duh, right? Everyone knows that humans are flawed. That's just common, reluctantly accept fact. But that's not the part of my theory you're not going to like.

There's nothing you can do about it. Here we run into opposition. There are any number of things people do to better themselves.

They study at fine schools and donate to charities every month. They start exercise programs and advocate for free health care. They build monuments and write poetry, make grand speeches and read their bibles. They strive to be better than they are, and they're wonderful for it.

But people are still flawed; no matter how strenuous their exertion on one matter, another is always forgotten.

They steal and lie and cheat on their spouses. They abuse their children and neglect their dog. They think naughty thoughts about their neighbor's fifteen-year-old daughter with the super model body. They wish terrible things on their boss and spread nasty rumors about that weird boy with the purple hair and snakebites. They forget to pay their taxes and keep saying they'll return their neighbor's lawn mower next week.

You are flawed, and there's nothing you can do about it. But Someone can. His name is God.

And here wheels simply stop turning. Here, opposition becomes a brick wall, unscalable and impenetrable. Here people become the epitome of arrogant and selfish.

There is no God, they say, as though millennia of believers are completely off base, as though the foundation of every society throughout history is meaningless. And if there were, I'd have no faith in Him anyway. This, at least, is the heart of our flaw. We have no faith.

We are flawed, and we know that those around us are flawed, and so we put faith in no one and nothing. Faith is laughed at, thought of as a weakness, given the once-over and dismissed like a rotten piece of fruit. Faith is left to burn in the embers of our greed and envy and selfishness. But faith is the only thing that can save us, fix us, heal us.

Throughout all of history only one thing has moved mountains and built bridges - faith. In God, in our own ability, in the rightness of a principal. Faith is the motivation that humans need to inspire change in this world. Faith alone compels us to reach out instead of in; to look to our fellow man as brothers, rather than enemies. Faith is our teacher, our guide, our friend. Faith has not turned its back on us. Let us not turn our backs on faith.

I have a theory, and you're not going to like it. You are flawed, and there is nothing you can do about it. But if you have faith, one day, Someone else will do something about it. Someone else will mend your wounds and heal your soul. Someone else will take away your imperfection. His name is God. I have faith in Him, and one day He will make me flawless.

a/n: This is part of a challenge I'm doing. 1000 themes in a year (probably more like two or three for me ). You can learn more about it on my profile. Thanks for reading, and I'd really appreciate comments/critique!
