My heart beats fast
I hold my breath
For I hope today
It happens
The doorbell rings
My friend opens and greets
My date
We leave together
Hand in hand
My heart is swelling
He looks uncomfortable
Was it something I did?
Did I do something wrong?
During the movie that he picked
A romance, which is weird
His hand stays in his pocket
Holding in my unshed tears
He gets down on one knee
And grabs my left hand
In the middle of the lobby
With couples and little kids staring
He whispers gently
"Will you marry me?"
Too stunned to speak
I nod and he slips the ring
Onto my finger
Standing up, he kisses me
And I am truly happy.
