Chapter 5
I LOVE you guys!
Thank you so, so much for all the reviews last night! It made me do a little happy dance :P
A River In Egypt, I'll try to take your advise, and slow down things a little bit with Colby and Cassy, I think you were right, it was too soon for him to spill guts like that. But OH well.
Please remember that I will take into consideration any criticism you would like to give me…So long as it's constructive, not just 'I hate your story' or 'You suck' because that doesn't really tell me what I need to change…Now does it?
Kay, thanks for reading my little input blurb :P

A tap on my shoulder startled me from my reverie of thoughts,
"Cassy! Where were you today? Skipper!"
"Allison!" I leaped forward and gave my best friend in the whole world a huge hug. "Shh! Not so loud! I don't want the Cochren to hear that I was skipping! You know she has it in for me!"
Allison laughed good-naturedly. "The whole SCHOOL knows that! It's not like she hides it or anything! Now c'mon! Let's head over to Starbucks so we can have a little discussion about that cute boy whose car I saw you getting out of!"
I slid into the drivers side of my baby and Allison slid into the passengers. Instead of starting our discussion in the car Allison popped a mix CD into the player and we both started singing along.
Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you 'cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
This-us just driving and singing along to music- was a treasured tradition to us. It was a chance to calm down, let out energy, and just escape from the everyday cares and worries of our busy lives. When 'Scar Tissue' was over we were still five minutes or so from the Starbucks so the next song came on, '4ever' by the Veronicas.
Let me take you on the ride of your life Come on baby we ain't gonna live forever
That's what I said alright
They can say what they wanna say
Cause tonight I just don't even care
Let me show you all the things that we could do
You know you wanna be together
And I wanna spend the night with you
Yeah, yeah with you yeah, yeah
Come with me tonight
We could make the night last forever, oh oh
The day was beautiful; bright and sunny, the windows down, the music loud, and the music playing in my hair. I was chilling with my best friend, and had spent the entire day skipping with a really hot guy, what more could a girl ask for?
Fast Forward 5 Minutes
"One tall marble mocha frappuccino, here you are Miss."
I accepted the delicious icy drink from the pleasantly plump lady behind the counter,
"Thank you ma'am."
I turned around and scanned the cozy lounge; Allison's drink had arrived a moment before mine and she had said she would grab us the two comfy squishy chairs. Spotting her I grinned at her obvious impatience as I s-l-o-w-l-y made my way over to her.
"Cassyyyy" She resorted to whining. "Hurry upppp!"
Allison had been my best friend since first grade. One of the obnoxious guys in our class had been looking up her skirt, so she screamed, but being the girly-girl she was, she didn't actually do anything about it. I on the other had come over and started kicking him; ever since we had been inseparable.
A lot of people were confused about why the two of us were friends; Allison was one of the girls who could pick up any guy she wanted, even though she wasn't what you might call 'beautiful', she just had that charismatic personality that attracted loads of people to her. She was however a complete girly-girl prep. Conversely I was your typical tom-boy who grew up to only have one good girl friend, and never really fit in.
"So, what exactly do you want to know?"
"Everything! But first, who is he?" She must be even more curious than I thought, her voice skipped an octave as she began her interview.
"He's my new neighbor! He also happens to be in every single one of my classes. Oh yeah, he's my date to tonight's dance as well, as ordered by the Cochren."
Not that I mind he's my date. Hehe.
"Mmk. So what's his name?"
"Oh yeah. That is important, isn't it? Colby…Uh. Colby Smith! Yeah that's it, Smith." I smiled with pride at my accomplishment, usually I can't remember peoples names until I've come in contact with them several times, much less their last names.
"Okay. So do you have a dress for tonight's dance?"
Crap. Forgot about that little detail.
The expression on my face must have given away my answer because she stood up, grabbed my arm, and started dragging me towards the door. "Well let's go get you one then!"
"But. But. But. I don't wanna go shopping!"
"Cassandra Evans. You get in that car this instant and drive us to the nearest mall!"
Dang. She's scary when she's determined
"Yes ma'am." I slunk out the door and over to the drivers side of my car, and crawled reluctantly in.
Twenty minutes later we were rifling through the rows and rows of dresses at Belk's. Well… Allison was going through the rows and rows of dresses while I followed meekly behind, and agreed or disagreed to trying on dresses that she held up. Ten minutes after that there was a pile of dresses in my arms so tall that I couldn't see where I was going.
"Allisonnnn. I think we have enough dresses. Surely ONE of these will work!" I was demoted to whining.
"Fine! But if they don't work don't look at me like it's my fault!" She glowered at me.
Gosh that girl sure takes shopping WAY too seriously!
"Deal!" I raced ahead of her, eager to get this newest form of torture over with.
-Fast Forward Twenty Minutes-
Have I tried on every dress in the STORE? Cuz it sure feels like it!
"C'mon Cassy, get this one!" Allison held up her favorite dress, it was an intensely red spaghetti strap number. Just my style, she knew it too.
"Kay! Let's go get it and get outta here!" She also knew I would have agreed to buy the ugliest dress in the store to get out of shopping for another minute. Being the polite and conscientious person that I am, I gathered up all the dresses that were discarded at random throughout the changing room and once more the stack was so high I couldn't see over it.
"Oof!" Seeing as I couldn't see where I was going, I promptly ran into something very tall and hard. Falling on my butt, I looked up to see what I had run into, only to see a pair of familiar eyes looking down at me.
"Steven?"
Thanks for reading!
