Important to all readers!
Well. I've sat and discussed this with my beta, and we've agreed. There is no need to spend forever and a freaking day, writing about Tyler and Alex's loving displays of adoration. Quite frankly, eighteen more chapters of that and we agreed that we'd both be sick. So, because we doubt that anyone really wants to read fluffy chapters of cotton candy worthy love we have come to a conclusion.
That said. There is a time skip. Last chapter was set in December. It is now May.
What happens? Not much. Tyler and Alex continue to bop like bunnies, Carlos doesn't come home for Christmas, very tragic, and Tyler's mother continues to hate our lovable narrator. Life continues, almost as if there wasn't a time skip. But, alas. There is.
Thank you.
I sighed deeply, watching the sunrise through Tyler's huge bay windows, my fingers playing idly with my diamond. "Pretty isn't it?" Tyler's voiced aired, flowing in from the doorway, causing me to roll over.
"Extremely." I grinned at him, rolling back over.
I listened to Tyler's soft footfalls and smiled when I felt him crawl in bed and throw an arm over me. "Not a beautiful as you though." He murmured into my scarlet hair.
I chuckled at his sugary sweet voice. "If you say so babe." I rolled over to face him, dropping a kiss to his nose, making it crinkle like a little kid does.
My loveable boyfriend grinned at me. "I love you so much kid." He dropped a kiss on my nose and grinned.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, you've told me that." I chuckled out, shaking my head as best as possible.
Tyler's grin turned into an endearing smile. "Well, a few more times won't hurt anything." He whispered, sitting up and giving me a slow leisurely kiss.
I rolled my eyes. "No, I guess not." I whispered when we broke apart. Tyler smiled and wrapped him arms around me.
I settled my face back into the pillow, string into his deep icy blue eyes. "I love you eyes." He whispered, making me warm on the inside.
We'd been doing this for months…just laying in bed and cuddling. It was actually replacing sex. For a while, we'd just lay there looking at each other until we either fell asleep or we were forced to get out of bed.
I smiled at him, watching with sick satisfaction as he smiled back, pulling me closer and nuzzling my nose with his.
Just as Tyler was sealing his lips over mine, the intercom buzzed.
"Tyler. I wish to speak with you in the drawing room." Mrs. Kimbal's voice rang over the intercom.
Tyler rolled his eyes before kissing me once more and rolling out of bed. "I'll be back soon. She probably just wants to talk about the party I'm not having." He smirked at me before shutting the door, and I assume heading down the stairs.
I rolled back over, turning back to the large window and again fingering my necklace.
Riona, Tyler's mother, hadn't got any better at dealing with me or Tyler's life in general. She like, went psycho on him after he told her he didn't want to have the huge-ass graduation party he's had since he was a freshman.
Now, personally, I think the entire situation is stupid, but, it doesn't really matter what I think does it?
I sighed again, rolling over onto my back and putting my hands behind my head. I closed my eyes, almost completely asleep when my cell phone rang with Christine's ring-tone. Yes- I had given in and let Tyler buy me a new cell phone.
"Yes?" I asked, the overly expensive electronic held to my ear.
"Oh my god Alex! We have to go shopping, this cute little boutique just opened and they have the cutest dresses!" She near screeched in my ear before her voice went into a muffled bark of orders, more than likely to her sisters or mother.
I rolled my eyes after her voice came back to me. "Christine, haven't I told you? I'm not going to prom in drag!" I sighed for the umpteenth million time.
She giggled at I could just see her shaking her head. "No Silly, I meant for me. Peter is wearing a different shirt than we planned because the one he special ordered won't be on the fucking continent for another two weeks! And we still need to find you the right suit…cause…well Tyler usually wears a tux…" She trailed off, going into in-depth one-sided discussion of Tyler's and I apparel for prom.
And, so we sat, and so she discussed for over an hour. And, there I sat, staring at the ceiling until Tyler walked in, looking non to happy. I sent him a concerned look and his angry expression dwindled.
'Bitch' He mouthed, flopping, yes- flopping- down next to me on the bed. 'Christine?' He mouthed again, rolling his eyes at my nod and grin. "Christine, we can handle out prom clothes." He sighed into the phone, somehow managing to sound amused.
"Tell Tyler to go fuck himself. You both need me and you know it!" She growled, barely breaking away from the conversation she was having with my phone. "Anyway, we need to go because after you pick yours, Tyler can pick his. Now, I'll be expecting Ralph at the usual spot in an hour. See you then Peaches!" She gushed, hanging up before I could get out another sound.
I blinked, lifted the phone to eye level and just stared at it. "Damn it." I groaned, throwing myself over so I was halfway on top of Tyler. "Sometimes I wonder about her." I sighed, burrowing my face in his shoulder.
Tyler laughed and shook his head. "Dad's coming in Thursday." He told me, "And mother's throwing a fit." He dropped a kiss to the top of my head. "Not that I'm too pleased about Carlos's arrival myself, it's still not bitch-fit worthy. He's going to be at his penthouse Thursday night, and Friday we'll be at prom, then Saturday's graduation…then he's going home. I think she's just bitching to bitch." He groaned, stretching out and pulling me completely on top of him.
I chuckled and leaned my mouth down to his neck, biting at the flesh there. "Why the hell do they hate each other so much anyway?" I asked around the flesh in my mouth.
Tyler's breathing deepened as he turned his head to give me better access. "Well, they met at a gala in Paris right?" He panted harshly as my mouth moved along his jaw. "And, my mother was already engaged through her mother to my step-father…who was like thirty-seven to my mother's nineteen. But, she saw my father, who was only twenty-three and she just…sprung at him." He broke off, trying to mesh our moths together and growling when I turned away.
"I actually do want to hear this story Tyler…so please, continue…" I whispered into his ear, keeping my mouth open and breathing lightly into it making him groan slightly.
Tyler took a deep breath, "She…she sprung on him. Demanded he sleep with her, he told her that they hated each other…their families knew each other after all…but she didn't care, and so. I was conceived. Kimbal married her anyway though, about a year after I was born and he left everything to me in his will. Of course, my mother didn't know this and he 'fell down the stairs' when I was twelve." He finished, bucking his hips up against mine.
"How tragic, sounds like he liked you…" I murmured against the side of his neck, pressing my lips to the bite mark I left.
"He did, he was sterile, never had kids of his own…that's probably why he married her even though I was in the picture." He bit his lip and rubbed the side of his face against mine. "He was a good father though…taught me how to throw a football…taught me to play hockey…" He groaned out again.
"That's nice…" I sucked harshly afterwards before leaning up fully. "I need to call Ralph. Christine will be pissed if I'm late." I grinned devilishly at his shocked face and rolled over off of him before he snapped out of it.
I sprinted over to the intercom, laughing madly while pushing the button for Ralph.
"Oh no you don't you little sphinx." Tyler teased, running after me and wrapping his arms around my middle, me laughing like an idiot the entire time.
"Master Alex? Is this another one of your and Master Tyler's sexual escapades, because truly you will have to put the divider all the way up this time…" Ralph's old bored voice called over the intercom, only to be met with my screeching laughter as I pushed the call back button.
"No no Ralph-" I panted out, holding Tyler's hands still at my sides. "Can you please go pick up Christine? We have another shopping trip she's dragging me to." I asked, breathing heavily with my left over laughter.
Ralph's voice was still bored. "Yes Master Alex, I shall go prepare the limo for battle." He answered before shutting off the intercom on his side.
I looked up at Tyler's quirked eye brows. "He's rather ballsy isn't he?" He chuckled, looking down at me and kissing me lightly.
I grinned into the kiss, pulling back after a few moments. "He's in his sixties, he can be ballsy." I laughed out again, pulling away from him quickly. "Now, I need to go shower and change." I motioned down to my silk pajama pants. "I don't think Christine will appreciate my attire." I giggled out.
Tyler shook his head at me. "But baby…." He whined, emphasizing the a, holding it out longer then necessary, even going as far as to stick out his bottom lip.
I rolled my eyes and marched over to my dresser, pulling out a simple button up white shirt and khaki slacks. "As much as I love you, even you aren't worth facing Christine's wrath." I laughed out, turning to meet his playfully hurt face.
"But, baby, I love you…how could you do this to me!" He stage screamed, throwing himself backwards onto and flopping his arm over his eyes, peering out from under it and smirking.
I rolled my eyes at him and continued to the bathroom. "I figured you probably have more paperwork to do anyway." I sighed out, maneuvering my way past him so that I stayed out of grabbing range.
"No…I did it all last week…didn't I?" Tyler's voice was confused and, I admit, absolutely adorable as he sat up, leaning casually back onto his palms.
I shook my head at him. "With Carlos's company yes, but you still have to set your inheritance from him and your step-father yup with the companies. It's just filling out forms I think…" I told him, deeming it safe to approach and drop a kiss to his head before moving to the bathroom.
Tyler huffed and I heard him flop on the bed before I shut the door closed behind me. Yeah…I bet he's wishing he wasn't inheriting nearly a billion Saturday…
That made me laugh too.
"Hey Babes!" Christine called, her head sticking out the top of the limo. With our last day of high school being last Friday, Christine had toned it down in a major way. She had dyed her bleached hair a very close to her natural hair color and thrown out her colored contacts, leaving her bright emerald eyes to shine. She was dressed in regular jeans, not even skin tight ones, and just a plain light blue top.
I was now embarrassed to be standing next to the beauty of my best friend. But none the less I grinned back at her, sprinting towards the door and opening it before Ralph had even bothered to get out. "I have the Platinum!" I called, sporting my spoils proudly before closing my wallet again and putting it back in my pocket.
"What'd you do for this?" She laughed, dropping back to the seat quickly. "On ward please Ralph!" She exclaimed, jumping up and sticking her head by the window. "Oh, and thanks for coming to pick me up, I know you don't like too." She hugged him slightly before we left the driveway and moved back to sit next to me.
I shook my head at her and rolled my eyes. "So, what's Peter wearing?" I asked, leaning against the door.
That got her excited. "He's wearing a light pink shirt instead of a light blue one, so, I'm totally buying a pink dress…I don't know what I'll do with the blue one…probably leave it to Maria…" She shrugged. "Either way, I saw this adorable suit that you would just look delicious in." She gushed, reaching down to her bag and pulling out the catalog.
And so we spent the next hour and a half looking through this catalog at various prom appropriate clothing.
"Sir, Madam, we've arrived." Ralph alerted us, pulling up to this shop on the outskirts of Putman.
As I stepped out and entered the store, I was in complete shock. When we'd gone to get Christine's dress the first time, it's been in a huge department-type store…only with all designers and one-of-a-kinds. This shop looked more like a mom-and-pops thing…well in comparison.
"Hello, how may I help you?" The woman who asked was young, probably in her mid-twenties, and she had the same snob accent as every rich people store in Manhattan has.
Christine immediately stepped into place. "Yes, we have reservations under Mrs. Riona Kimbal?" She spouted, out snottily, the woman's rather stuck-up attitude completely disappearing.
"Oh, terribly sorry Miss. This way please, I'll have another associate with your companion in just a moment." She nearly stuttered over herself at her apparent mistake.
Again, it's amazing how differently you're treated when people know you have money.
And, then, after three fucking hours of Christine trying on every pick dress in the store, she ended with one that made her look absolutely amazing. It was fairly plain, floor length and a faint sparkled magenta color. But nonetheless, she looked beautiful with the grouped together spaghetti straps crossing it the back.
Mine has simple, a black jacket and slacks, with a light crimson shirt. I liked in…manly because it wasn't a dress….and because mine didn't cost ten-thousand dollars.
"It's not that expensive…besides, Tyler won't even notice." She reasoned as we headed back to Tyler's house.
I shook my head, "I've been keeping track of the accounts. I think Tyler's cracking under the pressure or something. He keeps talking to the local bank, where my parents had their accounts, even though most, if not all of his accounts are in Europe of some sorts." I sighed, leaning back and drinking out of the soda I'd gotten from the fridge after getting in.
Christine sighed, "I don't know. I'd crack too. Having to go to like Yale or Harvard…and managing two companies. It's going be hard on him. Maybe he's just reserving some?" She asked, sipping from the smoothie she had grabbed, turning to look at me in the way that implies that she knew she was wrong, but was hoping she wasn't.
I looked out the window at the passing suburbia. "See, that's the thing. I think he's got half a million in there, and Tyler couldn't survive on that, so I don't know what it is. But, I know it's a secret."
"And that bothers you?" She asked, chewing on the straw. "You do remember how this relationship started…and then there's Chris…"
"Goddamn it, Christine! I remember how this started and I don't want to talk about Chris!" I growled, turning away when her hands came up in surrender.
I hadn't spoken to Chris since about mid-February. He'd kissed me, and Tyler beat the living shit out of him. Christine was right…they are two alpha males…they were two alpha males. And I was the bitch in heat apparently. They're still friend…kind of. They co-captained the hokey team together, they sat together in the classes they had together, and on the last day, they took pictures with they're arms wrapped around each other and huge grins their faces, the evidence of the last six years of friendship…but, I was allowed no where near them.
I do believe that Christine was under firm orders to never leave me alone. Seeing as the picture of Tyler's entire group, me included, had Tyler in the center with me on his right and Chris on his left…and Christine on his back to keep even the most minimal of contact between us from happening.
"Just saying it all…" She muttered, making me feel a little guilty but still feeling that she was deserving. She shouldn't have brought him up. "I mean…I was there, I saw that kiss…and I don't know, it looked like in another time…another place…that could…that should have been right. Like there's an alternate universe where you two are happy together…" She let her voice fade, both of us looking out our respective windows.
I felt my eyes fill with tears. "Please don't. I love Tyler…I love him so much…" I put my soda in the cup holder and wrapped my arms around my waist. "I don't want Chris and I didn't kiss him back or anything…you're acting like we fucked in the court yard or some shit." I shot back through my tears.
I felt her move on the seat but didn't look at her. "I didn't mean to say that you didn't…it's just…I…don't know…" I could see her shake her head in the slight reflection of the window.
I sighed and wiped my tears before facing her. "Its fine Christine…I just…I don't know either. I love Tyler, I want to be with Tyler…and…I'm happy with Tyler. He's more than enough. Chris…Chris is gone. And he's never coming back." I said resolutely.
She smiled sadly and reached a hand across to lie on my arm. "I know babes…I know…"
I nodded and sent her the same small sad smile. "Tyler's…perfect…" I confided. "It's just…if I were with Chris…I'd get bored…I mean. It's just work…too well." My voice was laced with confusion, even to my own ears.
Christine raised her eye brows. "Working well is a bad thing now?" She asked, sounding confused as well.
I shook my head at her, "No! It's just…it'd be so boring. With Tyler, everything's new…and with our temper's flaring, we never get bored. But…Chris…he'd be so…so…"
"Predictable." Christine finished, nodding along with me.
I sighed, running my hands down my face. "Yeah…predictable. Something…something Tyler defiantly isn't." I finished soundly.
But…I just couldn't help but think…that…in a very small way…
Christine was right.
A/N: Wow...I'm sorry guys...it's been a while. And...this chapter's not much, it's a filler really. Setting you up for where they are at the moment in time and all that.
Never fear though. Next chapter's going to be a doozy. lol
