My world fell apart today
Pieces crumbling
Falling, falling
I tried to catch them
In my hands but
The pieces fell,
Sifted in a fine stream
Slipping softly
Through my fingers
Escaping me,
With my sanity
I watched the fragments
Of my heart
Sail away in salty rivers
Felt them flowing
Saw them falling
Heard the shattering
Of my dreams and
Braced myself as a tiny
Crack crept across
My hopes, spiderwebbing
Till boulders came
Crashing down around me
My breath left me
On a southern breeze
Abandoning my lungs,
Letting my ribs fill
With lack of sensation
Pin-pricks, nothingness,
And gray.
