Everlasting
You gaze at me with haunted eyes
Tears spilling down from heavenly pools of green
your lips shaped into a sorrowful frown
as the moon light filtered over your features
The night was still maturing
As was my own emotions as the time came nearer
Uttering words I truly wished had never existed
The wind whipping around us with fury
I pleaded for your forgiveness
Though knowing I would gain no sympathy
I had broken your soul into splinters of crystal
piercing your heart with an acuity not known to man
But even as the words were whispered in your mind
You lifted me from the earth and embraced me warmly
The care you've shown me that night I shall never forget
Even though your tears stained my finger tips
Even as your woes tried to overcome you
You did everything possible to make me happy
And when your lips touched mine
I knew it was everlasting.
A/N I wrote this after feel empathetic to my best friend who had cheated on her boyfriend a couple years ago. They're still together and so obviously he forgave her. I hope you enjoy this poem. It was a lot of fun to write! Though sad at the same time, but it made me happy in the end . lol. And thanks for letting me know I forgot to post this as poetry reviewers! This was a first lol.
