R&R Blind Eyes

Chapter Thirteen

"Rayne wait!" Dacado called as the female wolf stalked towards the cellar door fury all but radiating off of her tensed form.

"Oh don't worry I'm going down to my cozy cage," she snapped without delay, or even a glance back at her new found brothers.

"No, no wait a moment now," Ajal joined in unable to keep the grin off of his face as he caught hold of Rayne's arm to halt her.

She swung around and caught the pup by the throat before any of them knew what had happened. Just as quickly she backed off forcing her sense of indignation of unwanted touch to subside in the face of friendship.

"I'm sorry," she said humbly putting a good few feet between her and her former victim.

"No, no," Ajal replied calmly, eying his sister warily, "It was my fault."

They stood there, silent for a few spare moments before Dacado spoke up breaking the tension between an ancient pup and an infant Alpha.

"You don't need to go back down there."

She glanced over at the taller of the two brothers in concerned question.

"Yes you have a room upstairs. Apparently something has finally got through to Kedyn," Dacado continued after a quick check over his shoulder for the male Alpha in question.

"A what?"

"You have your own room. You really are part of the pack now!" Ajal chimed, his excitement steadily building again after his momentary alarm.

"My own...room," Rayne mused. She'd had her own place to sleep in the clearing, even one in the den, though she'd had to defend her claim to that one time and time again, but her own room. A wolf cannot help but be curious, and so she was with the prospect of her own burrow.

"Come along madam, let us show you the way," Dacado smiled offering his arm to his future Alpha female. She gave a slight hesitation before placing her arm through his. Ajal took her other arm and together the trio made their way up a flight of stairs instead of down.

Kedyn remained outside but he could see the pups escorting his mate past the main sitting room.

"The next step my friend." Rurac said roughly as he followed his alpha's gaze inward.

"Forward of back?"

"One of each I do believe but at least now she doesn't resent you for keeping her in a cage," the dark skinned Lykae moved forward to open the door for his leader now that the female in question was no longer within sight.

"Yes and now if she wants to run it makes is all that much easier."

"I'll keep watch friend. You best try to sleep. I'm curious as to if it will be easier of harder with her closer to you."

"My money is on harder."

"And what a vast fortune you've got to wager."

The soft carpet underfoot muffled the footsteps of the trio as well as those of their unwelcome spectator. Ajal picked it up first and halted his siblings old and new, stepping forth quickly to shield Rayne from wandering eyes.

"What is it?" the darkly colored wolf questioned taking in her brothers' sudden displeasure as she peered over the shorter male's shoulder.

There, in the shadows taking her in with a hungry gaze dwelled an unknown wolf of residence.

"That would be Jarl. Pay him no mind, he shouldn't be up here anyway," Dacado replied watching the Omega carefully.

It wasn't that Jarl posed a threat to any of them, it was that for an Omega to be in the company of unclaimed female, to say it was frowned upon was an understatement. Omega's were not permitted to breed but like every other male wolf they still had excessive needs. Avoiding a situation of opportunity was always preferable to the alternative of a less then willing session of rape.

Instead of retorting or baiting as would be the norm from the Omega at a time in which the house sat at such unrest Jarl uncharacteristically shrugged and turned to head back down the corridor deeper into the house away from the protective duo and their protected.

Ajal and Dacado hesitated for but half a moment hearing the soft hiss of escaping air as a wall panel slid back into place. Jarl had taken the servants' staircase down to the kitchen and away from their sister's new quarters.

Rayne silently followed her brothers as they led her down a corridor to the left. Her eerie crystal blue eyes drifted back over her shoulder to the fading presence and scent of the unknown intruder. Though she knew full and well that she was obviously supposed to stay away from the stranger she could not help but be curious.

"Here we are!" Ajal smiled reaching for the door knob of a rich heavy mahogany portal.

The brothers stepped back allowing Rayne entry into her new domain. They stepped in after eager to see her reaction to the surroundings their alpha had chosen for her.

Greens and brown. It almost made her feel at home in the earthy tones. Like she was back in her clearing, it was late spring. The sun was shining everything was alive. She could almost feel the warm breeze on her face. A ghost of a smile graced her lips before remembering that she wasn't home. She was in a room with a pack of ch anglings at her back, a cold dead world to the front.

Rayne shook her head inhaling banishing the thoughts of home, or the once was home. Opening her pale mutt eyes to attempt to take in her surroundings again.

Pale green on the walls, dark green on the deeply colored four poster bed that sat high enough that she could curl under perfectly. Thick curtains covering what had to be a massive window on the far wall. Soft light made the room practically glowed.

A matching vanity sat near the window, twin doors to what had to be a massive closet on that same wall promised something of security. Rich emerald carpet so thick it begged to have her bare toes buried into it lay on the hard wood floor by the bed.

She stepped further into the room inhaling the scent of vanilla, honey and almonds. An odd combination among these natural tones of color and texture.

She smiled softly at the thought.

"I'm sorry Rayne," Dacado said softly from behind startling her. The wild wolf spun suddenly to see the heavy door swinging shut on her brothers closing her in darkness. Trading one cage for another.

For those of you who hate Kedyn; we should all meet up on my forum and have a bash fest! Come on it'll be fun! I am loving this seriously it is inspiring when you tear the Alpha down a few pegs. It makes me want to write him as even more an ass.
