Chapter 62
All time seemed to slow around her. Kylie closed her eyes, and only concentrated on the entire brotherhood, and her playing. While she was playing, the words that matched her tune rang in her ears;
The wind on the water blows through your hair
salt in your nose a shine in your stare
the waves rise high and low
we sing a yo ho, yo ho, yo ho
Lower the whisper, the Captain's around
we'll walk the plank if he hears a sound
the waves rise high and low
we sing a yo ho, yo ho, yo ho
Hurry now, hurry now, quick as a hare
our breath is cold our feet are bare
always remember our flight on the water
yo ho, yo ho, yo ho
Kylie had never even heard of such a large number being affected by one siren song. There was only one myth that she had known as a child where there was once, an even greater evil on this world, and all of the sirens together sang their songs at the same time. Each song told the evil beings to do something different from another, and eventually, the evil couldn't take it, and they all expired at once.
Kylie concentrated on all of the brotherhood. On all of those se had met, those she hadn't, and every other one all over the world. Kylie's head started to hurt, but then in the back of her mind that was still attached to everything that was happening around her, she heard a sound. It was another song. As Kylie continued to play, she opened her eyes, and looked over the side of the ship. There, amongst the wild waves was Jasmin. Kylie wanted to scream for joy, but kept playing. Jasmin noted that Kylie had seen her, and kept singing, as she tried to keep her spot in the powerful waves crashing over her head. Before long, Kylie noticed the water was filled with thousands upon thousands of other sirens, all singing their songs. They were all lead by Jasmin. Then she felt a mass of strong winds pushing past her. The spirits. One of the spirits stopped before her, and appeared in human form.
"We're here for you." Ruku, her dear friend, saluted her, and resumed his spot among the other spirits.
Kylie continued to play, she played like she had never played before. She used all of her might, and strength into playing, and concentrating on her targets. Her triumphant sound rung in her ears, and it infinitely refilled her with more power.
By now the armada had reached them, and not a shot had been fired, not a blade made contact. As if in a trance, every last man on those ships made their way toward Kylie. Once they got close enough, they all buckled over in pain, clutching at their head, yelling. All of the siren songs at once was confusing their minds, and it was too much pressure for them all to handle, and eventually, their bodies let out. Without even a sigh, their screaming stopped, and every last man from The True Enlightenment fell. All of them, after decades of waiting, were now expired.
At last, Kylie removed the flute from her lips and looked around. The only sound that could be heard was the soft drizzle of what was left of the storm. Kylie, fell to her knees smiling. Then she started to laugh, and she jumped up into the air, as high as she could.
"Ya-hoo!" she screamed, and she back flipped over the edge of the ship into the calming waters. The sirens that seemed to cover miles of open blue all let out a joyous cry.
"Huzah! Huzah! Huzah!" they cried, and then were joined in by the pirates aboard the Sea Heart.
Kylie swam over to her best friend, smiling. They hugged each other so hard, as if they thought that if they were to let go, all of this would go away forever.
"Look at you!" Kylie said. Jasmin's eyes were purple, with pride. "You... You're Queen of the Sirens now, aren't you?"
"I am." Jasmin grinned. "I have been wed to Ruku, he is our king." Kylie laughed.
"I always knew you would end up together. I can imagine that Ruku and Victor are catching up on a few things now." Kylie looked at her friend. Her eyes were now turning a little golden. "What's wrong?"
"I should be asking you. This is a joyous day, and yet you seem a little sad. Why is that?" Jasmin asked.
"Well, I've missed you and the other sirens so much, and yet, now I've found my father, and my mother. My mother, Jasmin. My mother!" Kylie shook her shoulders.
"But, I thought her to be dead, wasn't she? That's what Akeena said happened to her knowledge." Jasmin asked in surprise.
"He-hem." Akeena came up from behind Kylie. She turned around.
"Akeena!" she cried, and she gave Akeena a warming hug.
"I have missed you much, Chosen One. Our Queen has talked non-stop about you." Akeena said. Kylie smiled at Jasmin, who's eyes turned pink. "And, I am afraid I have a confession to make. You have met your mother by now, I take it? Very well. I, and the rest of the Council knew that she was alive. We were afraid any early human contact would ruin the Prophecy, so she was only meant to follow you for your protection." Akeena hung her head. Jasmin's eyes turned black.
"Aunt Akeena, I am very disappointed in you. Do you not know what the hurt of losing a mother is like? Only to find that she would be alive the entire time! Unbelievable!" Jasmin pointed.
"Calm down, Jasmin. It's okay. I had always thought my mother might have been alive somewhere, but this made our reunion all the better. When I found out, I was a little angered at first, but now I am okay. This is a time of merriment! So let us be merry!" Kylie said. Jasmin's eyes turned blue with contentment, and Akeena looked at Kylie gratefully.
Akeena was about to leave, but she stopped, and shook Kylie's hand in farewell. She left a small scroll there. The paper was enchanted, and siren made, so it would never dampen. Kylie unrolled it, and looked it over. It was the Prophecy.
The Prophecy of End
When the Chosen becomes of age,
The True Enlightenment shall cower
For as the Chosen smiles,
Listen well, it's their darkest hour.
All evil will bend and fall
To their death,
Hear now, this call.
New Dawn will rise again.
Kylie under stood why she had to wait to read this. If she had known how to defeat the T.T.E., she would not have chosen the right song, and all would be lost. She bowed her head, and smiled. Thank you, Akeena. She thought.
Once Kylie faced Jasmin, Jasmin turned to her.
"That still doesn't answer my question. Why are you sad?" she asked.
"Well, I can't exactly say. I will tell you later. For now, we must be joyous. Come meet my father!" Kylie asked eagerly. Jasmin eyed her, annoyed.
"Since I am not your Queen, I cannot order you to tell me. I will wait. But if you don't tell me, Kylie 'Chosen One' Valletta Jones, I will come after you." Kylie laughed at her.
"How did you know my full name?" she asked, as she helped her friend climb the rope thrown down to them from the ship.
"While you were gone, I did some research." Kylie raised her eyebrow at her. "...and some members of the Council filled me in." Kylie nodded, and smiled.
Once they reached deck, how ever slow the process was, Kylie lead Jasmin to Maverick and Nadia.
"Father, Mother, this is Jasmin." Maverick looked at Kylie in astonishment. "I told you, when you least expected it. But it's a one time thing."
"We'll see." Maverick said. Then he turned to Jasmin. After awkwardly looking at Jasmin's scaley legs, he shook her hand. Jasmin was unfamiliar with this tradition, but let him take her hand anyway. "Pleased to meet you, Princess Jasmin. Kylie has said so much about you."
"It's Queen now, actually, but thank you." she said. "Nadia, pleased to meet you face to face now. I'm guessing you already know who I am." Jasmin asked, and Nadia laughed, and nodded. "You do have the most remarkable laugh."
"Thank you." Nadia said.
Victor and Ruku started heading over to Kylie, Maverick, Nadia, and Jasmin. Kylie waved at them, and they stopped in front of her.
"This guy missed you." Ruku said, and he handed Kylie a glass bowl with her seahorse in it.
"Oh! How did you get this bowl?" Kylie asked. "Thank you. Hello, Tom." She said to the seahorse. It looked at her, and swam side to side.
"I found it in a ship wreck. I thought it'd be convenient here on land." Ruku said. Then he nudged Victor forward.
"What is it?" Kylie asked. Victor turned a little pink, but then he gathered up his courage.
"Kylie, I want you to be my wife." he said. He held up an oyster shell. Kylie's eyes shown with delight. She was too happy to speak. She opened the oyster, and there in it was a golden band with a pink pearl in it.
"Yes, Victor, I would be glad to!" She said, and she gave Victor a large kiss. "How long have you been saving this?" she asked.
"Oh, a while now. I had asked Ruku to keep it for me while I was away." he smiled at Kylie.
"I'm very happy for you two. Now our little group will have even pairs." Ruku joked. "Did Jasmin tell you our news?" he asked.
"Yes, congratulations, King Ruku." Kylie said, nudging him in the ribs with her elbow. Ruku looked down at his bare feet and smiled.
"No, not that news." he said. Kylie looked over at Jasmin curiously. Her eyes were pink, and purple.
"I am... I am going to conceive a siren soon. I was thinking about Kylie, for her name." she said. Kylie's eyes widened.
"Really? Congratulations!" Kylie laughed loudly. "I'm honored."
"You may help me conceive it when we go back home." Jasmin said. Kylie looked downcast.
"I'm sorry, Jasmin. I won't be going back with you. As much as I loved living with you, and the other sirens, I would like to live here on land with my family." she said.
"Oh, I knew this going on land was a bad idea. It's stolen you from me. I guess I can't force you to come back with me. Though there are siren songs that will let me do that. Just promise me something." Jasmin said.
"Anything." Kylie assured her friend.
"Visit me every day possible. Play your song, and I will come." she said.
"But I don't even know what my song does! Honestly, I don't think I did anything playing my flute today. It was with the help of all of the other sirens that we won." Kylie said.
"You make me laugh, really you do. You really don't know what your song did? Your song is a song of power. Power, and calling. When you played your song, you gave all of us more power, and confidence to help you sing. You called me to you, and I lead the rest of the sirens here." she said. "Your part in this Prophecy was calling all of the sirens together, and having us sing as a choir. There is no power like that of a group working in harmony, for the same goal." Kylie just looked at Jasmin in wonder. Then, she finally spoke.
"I promise."
And with those last words, here ends our story of the young girl, Nadia who started out in a tavern as a nothing, and became a fearsome pirate, a loving mother, and a legend; Maverick, courageous father, ruthless fighter, and husband; and Kylie. The young girl who pulled everything together, how it was all supposed to be, with peace, love, harmony, and never-ending friendships.
Later on in the years, Jasmin gave birth to the beautiful baby they'd hoped for, whom they named Kylie, but she was not the next heir to the siren throne. Instead, after Akeena fell in love with, and then married, a spirit named Jonathan, she was surprised, and overjoyed to see mood changing eyes of their baby. Kylie, not too long after this, also gave birth, to two twin boys, they named them Harper, after Nadia's father, and Percy after Percy O'Malley. Kylie did keep her promise too, every day she could, in her new pirating life, she contacted Jasmin, and talked with her. With the siren's help, the Sea Heart became an unstoppable crew. And last, but not least, Kylie found out that Fox didn't die with the rest of the brotherhood, because he, like a handful of other men, were a resistance inside of T.T.E., who were helping Kylie all along the way to her victory, though she didn't know it. This was how everything was supposed to be.
