Girl

How can one so small be so loud?
With all her words that she just found
She made me forget that she's still
That young little girl with a broken will
(I look I can't help it I don't believe)
Her brown eyes sparkle by night
The light of dusk gets them all right
As they stare away into her dreams
That tell her she's more than she seems

A soft smile with a soul of the sea
Holds it all back but it wants to be free
Like all those words she found today
She leaves them be, because she can't say
What she means…

She makes me wonder all the time
Of why she thinks it's such a crime
To keep telling her that she's loved
Or that she's a gift from above
(She looks she laughs but she won't believe)
With hair that curls in the tightest knots
Though I think she almost forgot
How it shines on those light summer days
With drops of red in copper frays

She said to me, "can you help me try?
I don't think I can reach the sky"
Her soul wants to fly but the rest of her stays
As her mind tries to think of the ways
To reach all the words that she's lost
To her they had such a priceless cost
I still try to tell her differently
But she's too strong to listen to me (now)

A soft smile with a soul of the sea
Holds it all back but it wants to be free
Like all those words she found today
She leaves them be, because she can't say
What she means…

(I wrote this when someone asked me to describe how I looked, but not just in simple words of this color hair, or that color of eyes. They said, "paint me a picture with words." And I did. True story)
