The Earth was the first daughter of Genesis. Her spirit, adorned with sweet-smelling flowers and hair that curled into vines, appeared before her father in reverence. Her eyes, green as grass, opened , and as they did so, Genesis fell in love. " Woman," said he, trembling with awe, " You are my wife, and so you shall remain, for all eternity. "
She, in turn, quivered with astonishment, her heart pounding. " I shall indeed be yours, but I cannot without a name."
" Terra, " Genesis whispered, " You are Terra."
The two gods then lived as partners, ruling both Earth and Heaven. In his love for his wife, Genesis gave her four races, each born from her womb. The Elves, raised from dirt, were born with a bond to nature. The Draco, born from the warmth of the sun, were fiery in spirit. The Fae, children of the calming sea, were always neutral. The Humans, sent from Heaven in a cloud, were either as peaceful or raging as the wind. Terra turned to her husband , proclaiming, " My love, you have blessed me with children, so I shall now bless you."
From her spirit rose three orbs, each with a child nestled inside. Damien-rah, the spirit of fire, Hazel-met, the spirit of the wind, and Lilah, the spirit of water.
" Your children, my love, are of Heaven. They will rule my children with the spirits that they embody. " Terra held out one hand to the orbs, and the three spirits rose from them.
Hazel, the first to emerge, fell to her knees. " Oh, my blessed mother and father, I shall guide them well. "
Damien, too, knelt, proclaiming, " I shall give hope and prosperity to all that serve."
Lilah, eyes wide as a child's, whispered, " I will do my best." But she, unlike her two elders, did not kneel before Earth. Instead, she threw her body at the feet of Genesis, layers of silk curls flying over his robes.
" What is this, sister, that you would show no gratitude to the mother that gave you first breath?" asked Damien, eyes narrowed.
" I give no reply to a woman that lies with her father." Lilah's body, hidden beneath sheer robes, trembled as her eyes met those of her brother.
Rage seeped into Genesis's eyes and heart, and in fury he struck his youngest.
" You three will go now into the world and guide those that need protecting. You shall not love another as I love Earth. It is not meant for you." With those words he turned his back and took Terra into his arms, eyes wandering back to the girl that questioned his wife. Even in his rage he saw her ethereal beauty, and he, too, questioned his wife.
