Chapter 1
I'm so going to kill my friends, Sophie thought. Once again, her friends, Margaret and Isabella, had set her up on a blind date. Sophie was never the dating type. She could hardly get a date on her own, and she's never had a boyfriend. Ever. Sophie was also the girl who hated being set up, especially when she wasn't involved. But there she was, listening to Cory Michaels and all of his boring stories. Sophie sighed and tucked her straight, chocolate brown hair behind her ears as she rolled her hazel nut colored eyes. It's the party of the year and I'm here talking to a complete dud, Sophie thought. Finally, when Cory had a break in his story to take a sip of his drink, Sophie took the opportunity to leave.
"Would you excuse me? I have to go to bathroom." Sophie said sweetly.
"Uh…ok. When you get back I'll tell you all about my hamster collection." He said with a cheesy smile. Sophie gave a fake smile and turned to walk the other way. Oh joy…hamsters, she thought. On her way to finding her friends she bumped into the one person she couldn't stand. Nick Parker.
Nick Parker was the school's favorite bad boy. He's never gotten arrested or anything like that, he was just kind of a rebel. He was 'cool' and Sophie never understood why. They were friends when they were little, but a change in personality and friends split them apart. So now, Sophie saw him as nothing more than an egotistical jerk. All the girls wanted him, while all Sophie wanted was him to move to another planet. She admits he is hot with his mesmerizing brown eyes, his charming smile, his untamed hair, and his tanned body. But as hot as he was, Sophie still couldn't stand him.
"Hey Soph." he said with a smirk.
"Hey dick…oops I meant Nick. Sorry." She said returning the smile.
"Ha ha ha. How's it going with Cory? Has he told you about his hamster collection yet?" Nick said with a hint of laughter in his voice.
Sophie crossed her arms and sighed.
"Not yet."
He smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"Come on, Soph. He's smart, funny, captain of the chess team…"
"Then why don't you date him?" she said taking his arm off of her shoulder. He paused and said, "I would but I already have a girlfriend."
"Who's the slut this time?"
A naughty grin took place of his famous smirk.
"Molly Jenkins."
"Ugh. You can't be serious. She's slept with both the football team and the swim team. That's just low, even for you."
"Jealous much?"
"Not at all. Now if you don't mind I have some friends to kill."
When Sophie finally got across the room to her friends, she placed her hands on her hips and narrowed her eyes at them.
"Ahem."
"Sophie! How'd it go with Cory?" Isabella asked. Isabella was not only the wild one of the group but obviously the mastermind behind the set up. Isabella had the prettiest, lily green eyes. She had straight, black hair that went just below her shoulders. She always had color streaks in it, and tonight was purple.
"He's waiting to tell me about his hamster collection…do I really need to go any further?" Sophie replied shooting daggers at them with her eyes.
"That bad, huh?" Margaret asked with a cringe. Margaret was Isabella's little sidekick. Although, she did have her moments of glory. Margaret had thick brown hair that just skimmed her shoulders and had chocolate brown eyes. All Sophie could do was nod.
"Well, we saw you talking to Nick Parker. You guys would make the cutest couple." Isabella said quickly changing the subject. Sophie rolled her eyes for the umpteenth time this night.
"Not this again! How can you guys possibly conceive that Nick Parker and I would make a 'cute couple'?"
"Because it's totally true. Besides he is so hot."
"Him being hot does not excuse the fact that he's a complete jerk who takes great pleasure in bugging me. I honestly have no clue how you guys could like him."
"We don't understand how you can't." Isabella said after taking a sip of her drink. "I mean that guy was blessed."
"I think I need to give you guys an intervention. Or hose you down."
"Can you hose him down? I bet he'd look even hotter wet." Isabella giggled.
"You guys are impossible."
"Lighten up. Just because you hate him, doesn't mean we have to." Isabella said finally serious. Sophie sighed and realized her defeat.
"Fine…well I'll be in the bathroom."
"Ok…we'll just be here, admiring from afar." Margaret giggled. Sophie smiled at her two friends and made her way upstairs to the bathroom.
She did her business, washed her hands, and went to walk out the door. Too bad the doorknob was stuck. Sophie's eyes widened with fear and panic. She tried and tried, but it wouldn't budge. Ugh you've got to be kidding me, Sophie thought. She banged on the door and screamed for help. After about a minute of screaming, the door finally opened. And standing there was Nick. He smiled and walked in.
"Nick move."
He stood his ground. "Say the magic words."
"I'm serious Nick. Get out of my way."
"You're not leaving until I hear a thank you."
Sophie crossed her arms with a pout.
"No."
"Ok then."
Nick shut the door behind him, and Sophie only got angrier.
"Nice going smart one! Now, we're both stuck in here." Sophie shouted angrily. Her anger only made him smile more.
"It's so much fun pissing you off." Nick laughed.
"And why is that?" She asked crossing her arms again.
"Because it's so easy."
She just glared at him. He smiled with victory and took a seat on the toilet.
"Take a seat. We could be here all night." He said with a sigh. Sophie's eyes widened again and she immediately banged on the door.
"HELP!"
