I know a girl who thought her life was in order. She had a steady job, a nice boyfriend, and decent grades. Well, things changed. She broke up with her boyfriend, because things just weren't working out. Her job was getting increasingly difficult, because one of the ladies that worked there became even more intolerable, to the point that this girl was thinking about rebelling against her authority. However, she couldn't do this, because this could get her fired, so, no matter what happened, this lady picked her on. This girl put up with it anyways. Her grades began slipping. She began to not care about school. Graduation was but a crest in the hill of the future. It was in so close, yet so far away.
School became a thorn in the side. She felt like no one liked her at school, that people only tolerated her for her friends' sake. She felt as if her friends were abandoning her for other people; at least one of her friends seemed that way. She was constantly bombarded with hypocrisy from this school, faculty and students alike. The popular group drove her mad with anger, for this group seemed to get away with anything. And, above all, she felt as if she were beginning to like a former crush…again.
She swore to herself that this wouldn't happen. This boy destroyed her once, two years ago. Too many memories and unsaid things lay between them. However, lately, he had been nicer, talking to her more. Yes, this was unusual. And…she liked it. She really did miss the friendship that they once had. However, the feelings that were coming along with this renewing friendship were unwelcome. She dreaded feeling like this again. She hated being let down again and again by those she loved. Why, even tonight, at a semi-important science fair where she managed to have her well built bridge hold 187 pounds, her father, her own father who helped build this particular bridge, didn't show up. He was too busy sleeping. What hope was there that someone who wasn't even related to her would love and cherish her like that when her own father couldn't even come to this event?
She felt betrayed, unloved, and above all, alone. She was just a normal, ordinary, plain looking girl with a temper that could match a fire. But, who could ever tolerate, like, or even love a girl like this?
