I know a girl who had a decent end to her senior year. She never spoke again to her ex-boyfriend, but the support of her friends greatly increased. Finally, the day came for her to graduate. It was an exciting day and event. She was all dolled up, actually looking like, dare I say it, a girl. And, she was even lucky enough to drive her favorite car, a Corvette, to her graduation. Although she was stuck in traffic for a while, she was able to make it to her graduation on time.
It went on without a hitch. Granted, she did stumble a couple of times during her testimony, but she was nervous. As she walked to receive her diploma, she heard her father yelling from his seat. A blush stained her features as she walked back to her place. Then, after all the hustle and bustle of the last few days of practice, after all the sweat and blood and tears, after all the years of attending that school, she walked out into the fresh air and into her new life as a high school graduate.
The reception was fun as well. One of her good friends from work and her employer were able to attend her graduation, but had to leave shortly after. They did visit her, however, and congratulated her. She took a lot of pictures and had many pictures taken of her as well. But, then, it was over, and time to go home. She was squashed in the back of her mum's car next to her grandfather and her father. On the way home, all they seemed to be able to talk about was he. Oh, he looked so handsome tonight. Oh, he went with her to homecoming their freshman year. Oh, this and oh, that. It drove her mad. Finally, she was able to retreat to her room, after she opened her gifts.
Her senior trip was her next big adventure. Yes, it was an adventure, a spiritual, emotional, and physical one. She would never forget what she saw and experienced there in Costa Rica. However, her emotions did go haywire. She knew that she liked him, the one who she had the history with. However, he began to be a jerk during the trip, yet she still liked him. But, her fondness for him began to waver. One of her best friends flirted with him, and they acted like a couple, right before her eyes. This angered her to the extreme. Her friend claimed that she didn't like him.
But, one night, he broke her. She was at the lowest point of that trip, and he made it worse. That night, she vowed that she would never like him again. From that point, she hated him. This friend promised that she would ignore the boy and other promises about causing him harm. Just the next day, she over heard him apologizing to her for something he did to her. And what did she do? She giggled and was friends again. Betrayal seeped through her veins, as well as anger. She would never forget this moment or what it felt like. However, she remained strong throughout the trip,
The remaining days, she began to notice another boy. It was not someone she expected, but nonetheless, she embraced these feelings. Why not? It wouldn't hurt, right? So, they just talked and she enjoyed his company. It was refreshing. She somehow managed to sit next to him during the plane ride home. They talked for over five hours, about random topics as well as more serious ones. She thought that something might happen between them.
They finally arrived at the airport, then to the vans. She slept as best as she could, but there were disturbances throughout her slumber. She was so cranky from sleep deprivation that she threatened to kill him if he dared to touch her, for she thought that he had some trick up his sleeve to play on her while she slept. She hasn't seen or spoken to him since.
Days after the trip, she thought that she would keep in contact with her friends and that possibly they could hang out. She even tried talking to that boy. However, after the first week, she lost hope in him and boys forever. She thinks they are evil, conniving monsters. She also lost hope in her friends. They stopped talking to her, and though they tried to hang out with her, she couldn't because of her work schedule. However, they knew what her hours were, and they all could drive their own vehicles.
They still never visited.
I'm not even going to try and get mad anymore. I just have to learn to expect the lowest from the people I thought the highest of.
