Codes of Conduct.

"Yes sir," "Thank you Sir,"
How often is this said?
"Please ma'am," "after you,"
Civility is dead!

There are no longer curtsies,
There are no longer bows.
Formality ceased long ago,
And propriety know-how.

So do we simply slap a back,
Or do we shake a hand?
Do we simply kiss a cheek,
Or do we simply stand?

There are no codes to govern this,
The codes of conduct went amiss.

It has all broken down.
