"Beep Beep Beep." The stupid alarm clock rang in my ear. Right now I personally wanted to shot whoever invented the alarm clock. I pushed it off my dresser and smiled half asleep as I heard it break on my floor. I'm sure it's at least in three pieces right now.

I was just getting back to sleep when I felt a hundred pounds on me and something wet on my face.

"Five more minutes, Snickers." I muttered to my chocolate lab. She didn't seem to get the message and continued to lick my face. I tried a several failed attempts to push her off me.

"Okay, I'm up. Happy now?" I groaned as I rolled out of bed. Snickers barked and jumped off my bed.

I got ready and headed out the door for another pointless day at school. It was my junior year and I already couldn't wait until college. There was no way I am going to sign up for a class before noon when I get to college.

As I pulled into the parking lot I saw my best friend, Holly , waving to me.

"Hey," I greeted her after I got out of my car.

"Guess what?" Holly smiled.

"Ummmm…. I won the lottery?" I asked hopefully and she frowned.

"Brandon broke up with Kelly." She blurted out.

"Good for him. I don't know why you told me this. He's never going to be interested in me." I shrugged. Brandon was your typical Mr. Popular, big jock and Homecoming King. I liked him way back in middle school when he was just your typical guy, but I was too shy in middle school to find out what he thought of me. It was a mistake because the summer after eight grade he changed physically. He went from normal guy to major hottie. He grew to be over 6 foot and built his body up. When high school started my competition became every girl in the school. I still have a thing for him, but I know my chances are slim.

"Why do you always put yourself down?" She asked me as we walked up the steps of the school.

"Maybe because I know I have no chance with him. Duh." I laughed. I wasn't going to be a love sick girl who fought over a guy. If it is meant to be then it'll happen.

"Melissa, you're really pretty. You have a chance. I wish I looked like you." She told me and I rolled my eyes at her. I was a late bloomer and I thought I was going to be flat for the rest of my life. I changed a lot over the summer, but I wasn't going to let it effect me. I was still the same person, just with a bigger bra size and straighter hair.

"You look fine Holly. Besides I doubt Brandon even knows my name despite the fact that we've gone to the same schools together since kindergarten." I shrugged.

"Well, now is your chance." She told me.

"You really think so?" I asked her. Holly was usually good at reading people. It would be nice if I could finally get his attention.

"I know so. I have a chill when I think of you guys together." She answered happily. I wish I could believe her, but I learned when it came to Brandon that it was best not to get my hopes up.

"You sure that's not the wind?" I laughed.

"Very funny." She said giving me a disappointed look.

Lunch

"There he is." Holly nudged me and pointed to Brandon who was standing in the lunch line.

"So?" I muttered and sat down at our usual table in the lunch room. It had a nice view of the whole room.

"Go up to him." She told me.

"And say what? 'Hey, you don't know me, but I've liked you since the seventh grade. Oh, by the way how's the mash potatoes'." I frowned.

"Look he's alone. Go!" She pushed me from the table.

"Fine, but just to get you off my back." I told her and rolled my eyes. Even if he actually noticed me I don't know what I would say, but it was worth a try. If Holly had a 'feeling' it would work, I'd give it a try.

I swallowed hard when I almost reached him. My hands were beginning to sweat and I started to become nervous. Why did I let Holly talk me into this?

"Hey," I tapped him on the shoulder. Well, that wasn't too hard.

"Hi, Brandon," A girl's voice came from behind me. He turned around after he heard her voice.

"Hey, Clare. Looking hot as ever." He grinned and winked at the girl behind me. What was I invisible? I walked away knowing it wouldn't matter, even if he noticed me he wouldn't have any interest in me. Why should he when he can have his pick of any girl.

"What happened?" Holly asked when I got back to the table.

"It was a total failure. He'll never notice me, even if I jump around the cafeteria in a dog suit." I muttered with a frown.

"He might notice that." Holly was laughing and I knew she was imagining me in a dog suit. The bull dog just happened to be our school mascot too.

"I was joking." I told her. Me wearing a dog suit is never going to happen. Not even for Brandon.

"It may work though." She stated and I glared at her.

"What? Can't you take a joke?" I sighed and she laughed at my frustration.

After School

I was driving home from school when I looked in my rearview mirror to see a black Dodge truck coming up on me fast.

"Great," I muttered when he started to tailgate me. What's wrong with going the speed limit?

The car in front of me slowed and put their turn signal on. I pressed my brakes and I felt my car jerk forward. I heard a loud crushing sound and I knew the guy hit me from behind. I felt my self move with the car. I sighed when the car stopped moving and I realized I was okay. Okay, but pissed off. If the stupid idiot behind me wouldn't have been tailgating me this wouldn't have happened. I decided to give him a piece of my mind.

"That the hell is your problem?" I yelled at the truck and got out of my car. I felt my heart drop the minute the guy got out of the truck, it was Brandon.

"Maybe if you weren't going so fricken slow I wouldn't have hit you!" He yelled back at me. I frowned at his statement. How rude, I wasn't going to take that.

"Maybe if you didn't tailgate me you wouldn't have hit me." I told him truthfully and I could tell that he didn't take it well. Out of all the people that had to crash into me, it had to be Brandon.

"My grandma can drive faster than you." He sneered and that really pissed me off. Just because he was the most popular guy at school didn't mean he could go around saying whatever he wants to. Besides he hit me.

"That's great. Why don't you call her and tell her to drive you around because you obviously have no idea how to drive." I mocked.

"Don't I know you?" He asked quietly ending our argument and I froze for a second.

"No," I told him. I was ashamed of myself for liking anyone as shallow as him. Though I had to admit he looked hot when he was upset.

"Are you sure?" He asked confused. I was surprised that he actually thought that he knew me. What's sad is that we've been going to school together since kindergarten.

"Yes," I confirmed. This wasn't the time for me to announce my love for him or even let him know that we go to the same school.

"You're name is Mary, right?" He guessed completely ignoring me.

"No, Melissa. Close though." I shrugged.

"Listen, I'm sorry about saying my grandma could drive faster than you." He apologized and I softened my expression.

"And I'm sorry I said you couldn't drive." I told him.

"But, I'm not sorry about the tailgating part." He added and I frowned. Just when I thought we found common ground he pulls it out from underneath me. Two can play at that game.

"And I'm not sorry about driving so fricken slow." I stated and folded my arms a crossed my chest.

"Fair enough," He nodded and I rolled my eyes.

"I guess we should call someone about this." He mentioned looking at my crushed car. I was lucky that I wasn't hurt. I wish I could say the same for my car.

"Yeah, I think so." I agreed.

"By the way I'm Brandon Richie." He said staring at me. Was there something on my face?

"I know." I muttered before I realized what I had said. Great, now he's going to think I'm a stalker.

"You just said we never meet before." He stated confused.

"I lied." I shrugged.

"You're one weird girl." He told me shaking his head. Weird wasn't so bad, I can live with that.

"Well, that's nice to say to someone you just rear ended." I said and tried to sound defensive about his remark.

"It's not my fault you can't read a speed limit sign." He shot back at me. Wow, great comeback.

"I was going the speed limit." I groaned and he glared at me. Well, at least I know I got his attention now.

AN: Okay, I know I have enough stories going on now and I don't need a new one. I had this idea floating around in my head so I decided to put it out there.
