Tears cause your field of vision to be blurred,
making your impossible task
that much more difficult.
Trembling,
you reach out
to set the last piece of glue-coated Humpty Dumpty into place,
only to watch horrified as the whole thing crumbles,
again,
before your expectant, bloodshot eyes.

Why do you keep going,
to be crushed anew with each failure,
getting so close to fall so far?

From behind this frosty window
I almost pity you,
then think better of it.
