"A Man Who Makes You Cry Is Not Worth Your Tears"

Tears drooped down my cheek. 'He doesn't know,' I thought. I quickly wiped them with my hands. I held my books tighter and walked slowly toward him. We met eye contact for a moment and my heart skipped a beat. I looked down on the floor as I walked past him. His scent filled my nose and I grew dizzy. My knees grew weak but I stayed strong and went to my locker. I glanced at him and saw his back. He was making hand gestures to his friends and they ears rang from his laugh. His laugh made me happy. It makes me think that as long as I hear his laugh, my life was content. I opened my locker and shoved my books.

I looked at him one more time and my heart sank. He was making out with his girlfriend, my best friend, Amanda. I looked up the ceiling to stop my tears from falling. By the time I was done, they were both heading toward me, smiling as if there was nothing wrong with the world. 'My heart shattered a long time ago.' I was mad, no, furious on the inside but there was nothing I could do. I'm the kind of person who would do anything to make my loved ones happy. I forced a smile and lightly waved. My body was numb and I was shaking.

"Hey, Jade." Amanda happily said.

"What's up Amanda?" I answered.

I was surprised that my voice didn't shake. I looked at Amanda and then took a look at him. "Aiden." I uninterestingly said.

But that's not what I felt. I wanted him to know so badly. My heart was aching, yearning for him. He nodded his head. He only acknowledged me because I was Amanda's best friend. Otherwise, he would have just ignored me. We were completely different. He was famous in school while I was just a quiet bookwork. My best friend was talkative, outgoing, and beautiful. I couldn't match with her by her silky blond hair, innocent blue eyes, flawless complexion, curvy body, and the height of a model. I was just a short girl with dull brown hair and eyes. I was not surprised that Aiden suddenly started to like my best friend. Heck, if I was a guy, I'd pick her instead of me. After school, I went into my room and sulked as I always have ever since Amanda announced to me happily that she was going out with the most popular guy in school.

I sat down and held my knees, silently rocking back and forth. The world isn't over, I know that, but it sure felt like it. I did that until I fell asleep. I woke from hearing loud knocking noise on the front door. I rubbed my eyes and straightened my clothes. I quickly answered the door. It was him. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Aiden?" I weakly said.

I suddenly felt conscious of my appearance. 'What was he doing here?' I asked myself.

His hands were in his pockets and he looked down at his feet.

'He looks nervous' I quickly shook my head, 'Stop it Jade! He doesn't like you, .It.'

I looked at him curiously.

"What are you doing here?"

He met my brown eyes. I froze. He gave me a nervous smile.

"Jade." He said.

My heart beat rapidly at the sound of his voice.

"I-I have to tell you something."

My eyes widened. 'Could it be?' I thought and started to smile.

"Yes?" I eagerly asked.

"Um..well you see..."

My body started to shake involuntarily.

"I have been meaning to tell you for some time."

I felt like my legs were going to give in at any second.

"You know my friend Harry?"

I looked confused. 'Why would he want to talk about his best friend?'

"He likes you"

My smile shattered. 'Harry? But I have no feelings for him. Only for you, Aiden.'

"O-Oh" I said sadly.

"Th-That's nice but I don't really like him in that way." I coldheartedly said.

He looked at me with angry eyes. He was after all, really close to Harry.

'No, Aiden. Don't be mad.' My lips quivered.

"Tell him, I'm sorry." I said before I quickly slammed the door in his face. I was in no mood to go to school the next day.

When I slammed my locker shut, I hit a wall when I turned around.

'There's no wall' I thought.

When "the wall" backed away, I met the gaze of Harry's green eyes. I looked away. Sure, I admit he's handsome, probably better looking than Aiden but to me, Aiden was perfect. He cleared his throat and looked at me with his piercing green eyes.

"I know your feelings for Aiden."

My heart beat rapidly at the sound his name. Before I could say anything to deny it, he interrupted me.

"But Jade, I've liked you since seventh grade. I will do anything to protect you, to make you happy." He genuinely said.

My eyes widened from the sincerity from his voice.

"I could do what Aiden can't, love you. Please Jade, give me a chance." His voice cracked.

For some reason, my stomach was warm and it felt good.

'That never happened with Aiden.' I thought.

"I-I don't know Harry."

He pulled me into his arms. I felt sparks when he touched me. My heart started beating rapidly.

"Give me a chance." He whispered into my ears. When he pulled away, I looked at him.

"I don't want to be hurt again" I strongly answered . 'I don't want to be hurt again.'

"No, I would never hurt you." He quickly answered.

"But I don't have feelings for you."

His eyes flashed with hurt.

"I-I know that but I can at least try to make you happy."

My heart skipped a beat. I never thought there would be a guy who would want to make me happy. I was..surprised.

"I-I don't know Harry.." I said before I passed by him.

A year later...

Time healed my damaged heart. I had slowly got over Aiden. I was still single, but for once, I was content that I don't have the aching feeling in my heart anymore. I was rushing to get to my college class when I bumped hard into someone. The person almost felt like a wall.

' A wall' I thought. 'Almost like-' I met the gaze of the same piercing green eyes long ago.

"H-Harry?"

He gave me big smile

"Haven't seen you in a while."

I looked down at my feet, blushing.

"So, have you decided to take up on my offer now?"

I quickly looked up.

"You still like me?"

He shook his head

"No, I don't like you."

My heart sank. Before I said anything, he interrupted me.

"I love you."

My eyes widened. He shoved his hands into his pockets. My heart still beat rapidly as it did last time I saw him.

"I-I guess I can give you a chance."

He smiled at me and I weakly smiled.

For now, there was hope.
