* Later, Lina was sitting with her legs crisscrossed under her, checking her email, and Mason was still sketching, when he heard Lina gasp and say "Oh no."

"What's the matter?" he asked

"The school I was at was an alternative school. But now the district doesn't have the funds to keep it open, and I am out of a job."

"That can't be."
"Read this." She turned her computer towards him, and he read silently.

"Oh Lina, I'm sorry." And he was sorry, but he was also strangely a little happy. If she didn't have a job there, then she could move to find a new job, and dating would be a whole lot easier if she lived near him, or at least in the same state. That is if he could convince her to move. Looking at her he could see she was upset. "Don't worry about it, you're a great teacher, and I'm sure you'll find another position easily." He set his sketchpad on the bedside table and reached for the remote. "Enjoy your vacation now, then worry. Ok?"

Lina looked at the email, then at the TV and sighed. "I guess so. Do you need to use the bathroom before I shower?"

When Lina got out of the shower Mason was apparently engrossed in a movie, and had taken all the pillows. Lina tried grabbing one from underneath him, which turned into a laughing wrestling match. They were still laughing when Mason landed half on top of her, and went very still.

Mason stared into her very blue eyes, eyes that hadn't changed since she was sixteen. "Hey." He said softly.

"Hi" She whispered back. Very gently Mason brushed his lips against hers. The contact was very brief, and very chaste, but still electrifying.

"Can I try that again?" Mason asked Lina very gently. She looked up at him with wide blue eyes. Eyes that held a lot of uncertainty, a little fear, some hope, but what gladdened him the most was the promise they held, the promise of desire and possibly a future. He lowered his head again, and innocent butterfly kisses turned into something deeper. The taste of her was intoxicating, just as he always knew it would be.

"Wow." Mason said as he raised his head again.

She nodded and touched his cheek gently. "Yeah" she whispered.

He leaned down and kissed her again.

"Mason, we have to stop." She pushed at his chest.

"I know, you just taste so good, I can't help myself."

She laughed a little nervously. "Well I don't want this to go further right now."

He looked at her. He wanted to do nothing more than kiss her again, and keep kissing her until he had rid her of all her objections, but he knew she'd hate him later if he did. He sighed. "How about we rent a movie?"

She nodded, and he moved sitting up to reach the remote. "What sounds good to you?"

"A comedy." She told him.

"A comedy it is then."

Mason watched as Lina struggled to get comfortable, pushing the pillow this way and that, folding it, and twisting and turning. "Lina."

She didn't hear him.

"Lina." Again no response. He sighed. "Lina!"

She looked up startled.

"Here" he patted his chest, and held out his arm.

She looked at him uncertainly for a moment.

"I promise not to try anything, but I think I might be a little more comfortable than that pillow you're trying to beat into submission."

She looked at him again, the scooted closer, laying her head on his chest. He curled his arm around her and began to stroke her arm. Lying like this reminded him of old times, when they would have movie nights in high school. Lina would often use him as a pillow. It was a nice feeling, having someone you cared about snuggled close. It was a feeling he could get very used to, he thought.

"Don't do that." She said sleepily. "You're putting me to sleep."

Mason stopped for a little while, and they watched the movie, that really wasn't very funny, or good. Absently Mason began to gently stroke her arm again. They were both asleep before the movie was half over.

Lina woke up sometime before dawn. The TV was blue, signaling that the movie was over, and had been over for sometime. She rubbed some of the sleep out of her eyes, and reached over Mason to get the remote and turn it off. She looked at the clock, it was only 3:30, and she still had four hours before she needed to get up. She put her head back down on Mason's chest and closed her eyes. Mason's arm came up to hold her, and she sighed and snuggled closer, falling back to sleep almost immediately. Her last thought was, "I could get used to this."

The alarm went off the next morning, and Mason groaned, and tried to punch it. He sent it flying off the bedside table, still beeping. Lina walked out of the bathroom, dressed and showered and laughed at him. "You have to actually turn it off. It doesn't work to just hit it."

He growled at her in response, making her laugh harder.

"Why are you up anyway, what have you got going on today?" She picked up the alarm clock, turning it off, and setting it on the table. She sat down on her side of the bed and began to brush her hair.

Mason turned on his side to watch her. "I've got a meeting with a potential client today. I figured since I was here, and I knew there would be things I'd be excluded from…"

Lina snorted. "Excluded, because you really want to spend a day getting manicures and pedicures, and hey we can even wax your legs! Somehow I can't see you enjoying it."

"Yea probably not. Still I want this contract."

"What is it for?"

"Well it's just a house, but I know if I get this, he'll tell his friends, and then I'll get more contracts."

"Cool." Lina took her now brushed hair and twisted it into a bun, securing it with a clip.

"So are we going to talk about last night?" Mason brought up casually, cursing himself when Lina froze.

"Well, I…" She was saved by a knock at the door. "I'll get that" She jumped and flew across the room.
