Chapter 10

The weeks after that were weeks of bliss for Kieran and when the tragedy would strike, it would be one of the things that Kieran held on to the most. It was part of his identity, being a part of Lucian and Lucian being a part of him. He could not get enough of it.

Now that they had both acknowledged each other, they were seen constantly holding hands with each other, whispering in their secret language and in general were in more good humor than anybody else. They ignored the fact that Kieran's guard constantly teased them about their being together - all in good sport - and that even if Kieran had Lucian, they were still there to constantly be on guard.

-
But not known to them was the fact that there was an unknown person watching the comings and goings of the group. Taking note of every little thing they did. Of every single habbit that each group member had. The person took in every little detail and took note of it in his list. He had plans to take Kieran from them for his own dirty deeds. And he was going to be as ready as he could going about obtaining his little prize and breaking him and molding him to his own need.

So the unknown person sat and abided his time until the time was right for him to spirit Kieran away.

The time came a few weeks later, when Kieran had taken a walk in the forest alone. No one would notice that he was gone until it was too late, and by then, they would not be able to do anything about it.

Kieran was taking a walk in the forest. He loved walking in the forest, it was always changing and he loved to see it at anytime of the year, any day of the year. And besides, Lucian had fallen asleep on their study session, so he had decided to take a walk to let Lucian sleep in peace.

Walking along in the forest, he spied a little spring of water up ahead of him and he made his way to it, crouching down to look into it. He saw several species of fishes swimming along in it and Kieran admired the beautiful color they had on their scales. Looking up, he saw the old tree house that he used to go to play in with Lucian when they were little boys and Kieran grinned, at the sudden memory.

He decided to make his way to it and go inside to look and see if it had been ravaged by time and the animals of the forest.

To his delight, he immediately knew that there had been an enchantment placed on it to keep any animals out of the tree house and that time would not be able to touch the place. He sat on a small chair, his frame now too big for him to fit properly in it and reminesced on the good old days.

He did not hear the intruder come in from the back until it was too late. Kieran only heard a sound of rustling fabric and when he turned back, immediately wary, he was hit on the temple. It knocked him out black effectively.

-
The man had caught his prize and he was now carrying the prince of the realm to the appointed hide out to carry out his plan.

It would take time to say the least and time was the one thing he had in the whole world. No one would even guess that it was him that had kidnapped the prince. No one would have ever thought that he would be mad enough to try this. Not when he showed every ounce of loyalty to the King. It was a mask of the Count Nema, but one that no one had been able to see through. So he had effectively gotten away with kidnapping the crown prince of Chresto.

And the plan. Wasn't the plan such a delicious one. What a better plan there could not be.

For who would kill the King but his own son?
