Chapter 2

"Who are you?" Riane demanded. The bleak wind caused goose bumps to rise on her arms but she held back a shiver.

Taking note of her now prickly arms, the boy rose casually from the lounge chair, dragging the blanket with him. "I think you know very well who I am." He said confidently as he approached her.

Riane backed away, unsure of what was really going on and not actually wanting to know at this point. He lifted his arms, offering the blanket to her. When she refused to take it he smiled and in one fluid motion stepped toward her with alarming speed. Startled at his sudden movement, she jumped back and bumped into the smooth white deck rail, almost losing her balance

Fear swept into the boy's eyes when he saw her leaning over the rail. At this emotion for her safety, Riane recognized a certain trait in him only found in one other person that she could remember. "Jason?"

The smile reappeared on his handsome face, one that undoubtedly made any girl's insides melt to a mush of lovesickness.

"I am glad you can tell it's me."

Riane agreed but was still cautious. Even though he didn't look anything like the guy in her dreams, there was something about him that resembled Jason so much that she would have to be crazy to not have noticed it. Still, she felt like this wasn't the Jason she knew and loved, that there was an odd aura about him. This sensation kept her senses from drifting off and allowing her body to rush toward him. It also kept her from responding to the boy's next move.

Jason reached toward her. She flinched slightly as his fingers touched her arm and slide up to her shoulder. His other hand carefully lifted the fuzzy blanket and wrapped it around her chilled body. The heartless wind that had been biting her exposed skin quickly ceased its persistent gnawing. Riane felt herself relax into the soft cloth. But panic soon began to take hold of her mind when realized that Jason had taken a hold of her shirt and was now pulling her against him.

Not sure of what to do, she allowed Jason to pull her close to him. But when she got close enough, Jason surprised her by leaning toward her, his lips coming so close to hers that she could feel his warm breath on her cooled skin.

Rid lights and warning bells went off in Riane's head at the thought of this stranger taking her first kiss. She snapped her head back and wrenched out of his grasp. "No! I don't know you. You're not Jason. You're someone else." She shouted as she backed up a little too fast. So fast indeed that she retreated right back into the railing and completely lost her balance this time, falling backwards over the rail, a scream caught in her throat.

From the corner of her eye, she saw Jason try to catch her hand but missed. Then she saw him moving away from her as she fell toward the ground. The darkness of the evening sky consumed the world and nothing was left to be seen. In the thick darkness, Riane heard the boy call to her.

"Riane! Riane! You need to wake up Riane!"

This time, the scream erupted from her mouth and echoed into the dark world.

Riane gasped and bolted upright. The shirt she had gone to sleep in was slightly damp with cold sweat. She looked around at her surroundings and saw that she was in her room. Relief flooded through her as she realized what had just happened with the strange boy claiming to be Jason and her falling off her deck was really all just a bad dream. Usually dreams of Jason included romantic sense of walking on the beach or a quiet picnic in a country side somewhere in Italy or something. But in those dreams he always looked different and she always knew instantly that it was him. This time, she did not recognize her knight. The fact that he tried to kiss her so suddenly, however, did fit Jason's personality.

Laughing quietly to herself at the thought of all that had happened, she shook the image of Jason almost kissing her from her mind and got out of her bed. Her room wasn't at all that big so walking to her door was never a hard task in the morning. However the walk to the bathroom down the hall was never fun after just waking.

Taking about 5 minutes to brush her teeth and pull back her wavy shoulder length amber hair, Riane quickly returned to her room to change into clothes that would suit the partially sunny autumn weather.

As she walked into her room she froze at the sight of the boy from the dream she had just painfully endured standing at her window and looking out at the sunrise. The purple and pink light from the morning sun covered his beautiful face and seemed to cling to him as her turned to look at her. He smiled that million dollar smile and said "Hey baby. I was wondering when you would return to your room so I could see you."

Riane starred at him, amazed and at the same time frightened beyond belief. There was no way this guy could be standing in front of her now. To prove this, Riane closed her eyes and stood in darkness for a few seconds before snapping them open again. When she saw that he still remained in her room, a smug look on his face, she closed her eyes again and smacked her hands on her face. After looking again to see if he was finally gone and finding him still here she decided to try again.

She closed her eyes yet again but before she could smack herself again, she felt hands restrain her uprising arms. Quickly opening her eyes, her breath caught when she saw that she was looking straight into the boy's majestic blue eyes. He leaned in to kiss her and she decided to do what any girl would do when a strange guy tried to kiss them. She screamed.

Stunned at first but quickly regaining his composure, the boy twisted Riane around so that her back was against him and arms crossed in front of her body then covered her mouth, instantly silencing her scream. "Shh, quiet down. I am not going to hurt you." The boy whispered in her ear, teasing the small hairs against her neck.

Riane refused to relax though. And just because he thought he had control of her, she grabbed the hand that was covered her mouth, twisted it so hard he yelped in pain, then pulled him over her shoulder and slammed him down onto her bedroom floor. He landed with such force that Riane was she the wind had been knocked out of him.

Even if this was true and the look of total surprise that resided on his face may have proven this fact, the smile that he flashed her made her feel uneasy as she towered over him, still clutching his hand tightly.

Instead of showing fear, she smiled back at him. "Now you will tell me who you are and what you are doing in my room." She demanded, bringing on a sense of déjà vu.

Without warning, he reached up and grabbed her arm that held his hand and pulled her down toward him, causing her to flip and land painfully on her back, air escaping from her lungs. Riane didn't realize how strong he really was until she found herself on the floor next to the boy and unable to breathe. He rolled on top of her and before she could kill him he pinned her arms over her head.

"Like I said before, you know who I am. How many times must we go through this?"

"You are not Jason. Jason isn't real. He is a dream and stays in my dreams you poser!" Riane was yelling at him now and struggling to get loose.

"Hmmm perhaps this will remind you of just who you are dealing with here." With that he lowered his head and kissed her.

At first too shocked to really respond, it took Riane a couple of seconds to really register what was happening. Pissed beyond anyone had probably ever seen in a while, Riane bit the boy's lip. He snapped his head back but didn't release his hold on Riane. A thin trail of blood lazily trickled down his bottom lip and loomed down his chin.

"That wasn't very nice."

'And this won't be either,' Riane thought. She sucked in a lungful of air then screamed "Abby!"

Jason looked down at her confused. Riane just smiled at him for he obviously didn't know who Abby was and what she was going to do to him when she came running into the room and see him lying on the floor with Riane.

Downstairs, the sound of running footsteps carried up into Riane's room. Riane listened as the sound reached the stairs and was now running up the stairs. She looked up at Jason and was pleased to see a look of total horror contorting his beautiful face. The footsteps were now just in the hallway.

A large yellow Labrador crushed into Riane's door that had stood ajar but now swung open with brutal force at the dog's entrance. It looked down at Riane with big brown eyes then up at Jason who was now pushed up on his hands and knees.

Abby's eyes fell back on Riane which to Riane, the dog appeared upside down and gave the dog a goofy appearance but she was sure that to Jason, the sweet dog looked like it was going to rip him apart. The dog's ears were pricked up and she looked questionably at Riane as if asking "where's the party?"

"Get him Abby." Riane encouraged the dog. Abby didn't move but Riane could see her body tense, ready to spring at the one command that would set her off. "Come on Abby, you can get him. Go Abby!"

At these last words, Abby finally moved. Before Riane really realized it though, Jason had jumped up, turned, and now sprinting at the open window. Abby ran after him with to Riane what looked like a goofy smile that told her that Abby wanted to play.

Just as Jason was about to reach the window, Abby leapt into the air and hit Jason square on his back, sending him flying out the window with a startled cry.

Riane's mind filled with the mix emotions of laughter and fear. Fear for his life but laughter for the look on his face. She jumped up and hurried to the window where Abby stood on her hind legs looking out and down at the ground. Riane hadn't thought that Abby would push him out a window; she just wanted to get Jason off her and force him into a corner so she could easily kick his ass for taking her first kiss. Much to her disapproval, she couldn't keep her mind from wandering back to her unfortunate embrace with the boy who was supposedly her knight. Maybe it wasn't unfortunate after all.

No. what was she thinking. He was a complete stranger that had been in her dreams and now had just fallen out her window. 'Wait the window!'

Riane stood next to Abby as she leaned out her window and looked down expecting to see the crumpled body of the boy. But what see saw was not him, but no one at all. He had disappeared.

She looked down at Abby who looked up at her with sad eyes. Apparently she still wanted to play.
